What is the best part of working at the company?
Work life balance and team work.
 At least 90 percent of the staff is willing to assist if help is needed regardless of their position. 
Its office hours Monday to Friday which makes it easier to have family time.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The job is customer service so the customers are stressful. People are just too entitled and want more than they pay far.
The biggest stress however is the workload. You carry a client list of over 130 and only 2 to 3 hours of your day is given to your existing clients. For most of your day, you're scheduled to be on the phone lines answering enquiries and receiving new calls. It becomes quantity of customers versus quality of service.  If you believe in giving quality service to people, this is not the job for you. Clients are constantly leaving you vm and you can hardly find time to return their calls; trust gets broken. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The company is kind to their employees in that they foster team building through various activities through out the year. 
Multiculturalism and diversity is seen, fostered, and accepted.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A typical day as a claims adjuster is extremely fast paced. 
Struggle to find parking, find a work station (hopefully a desk you can sit at and not a standing desk because that's all the chairs left).
Sign in to the various desk tops, at least 6.
Check you schedule because it changes daily. Important to follow exactly because you will get calls from team leaders if you are even 2 minutes late from back office to phone.

Back to scheduled day.
The schedule is militant and closely monitored for adherence.

Typical day: Either total day with phone line open to taking on a new claims (even though you may have over the 150 files that are deemed that top amount of files that you should have), or a day off the phone, or a few hours/day on the phone, thereby allowing you  time to work on existing files.

Tons of stupid weekly and monthly and unscheduled sudden meetings.  Also Manager sitting with you bi-weekly with a linked headset, listening to conversations etc. Supposedly there to help you with problems, but also watching every little detail of how you work with clients, how you organize your day, very little time actually given to helping you out on big decisions (told to seek out professionals in the field instead)  

Work load is increased in a way that makes you think they you are learning new things that will broaden your knowledge base, but in reality, workload is increased without reducing file load or by taking you off new file intakes.

Phone calls are taped, (supposedly to protect client and employee, and for training purposes)  These are actually re-played to you during reviews and used against you to reduce or not give yearly raises.  Never included are the calls were you are praised etc.

Horrible place to work, do NOT fall for the statement of the president that "they will treat you like they want to be treated".  

People leave this place like lemmings jumping off a cliff.   

One final note, if you want to move up the ladder, kiss butt hard, because unless you make into the good graces of your boss's boss, they will find a way to make you so uncomfortable that you cant wait to leave.

Worked for 13 years here on the road. You need to fight for everything you need. My back was injured from work accident it took months before I could get ergonomic equipment and vehicle. Should be as simple as providing a medical report and getting what you need.

Management changes every year, culture changes every year. So it`s always different priorities all the time. One year pro-employee, one year pro-client, one year pro wellness, one year pro diversity.

My job was changed to desk duty after being on the road for 13 years when last manager left. So be prepared for being demoted at anytime. Lost my company car and was told I had to come into the office after being on the road for 13 years.

Raises are below cost of living every year even for the best of us. Bonus also very very small compared to other companies. Managers are also bitter and will pick on you if you do not get along with them.

The best part of the job was the pay was always deposited on time. The worse was the instability, broken promises, and uncaring attitude of upper management.

We used to get internet covered for working at home, then poof that`s gone. Also no defined benefit pension plan and very small share purchase plan.

I learned after 13 years that I was too valuable for Aviva so I found road position elsewhere. So I do have to thank Aviva for that.

My coworkers and team members in the IT department are fantastic people who sincerely care about the job that needs to get done. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
IT senior leadership is a revolving door of people chasing their own ambitions without regard to the team members who are actually on the front lines. Rather than promote from within based on merit, they will bring in their own friends from former workplaces and put them in positions for which they aren’t qualified. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
They give a lot of lip service to being people-focused, but IT managers who care about their employees are often let go in favour of profit-focused puppets who will do senior leadership’s bidding. People on the non-IT side of the business tend to be much happier, but IT is fraught with people made miserable by the team brought in by the previous CIO. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Start the day with the best intentions of helping colleagues in need of help and completing project deliverables, only to have your priorities changed several times based on the whims of management and whether one of their friends in a different business unit needs special attention.

As a claim adjuster in auto department, the typical work day is split in half, one half you are taking inbound calls for new claims and also existing claims. The other half is to manage your files, do your follow ups with customers, bodyshop, rentals, appraiser and etc. 

  It’s a very fast paced job and you need to be efficient at multi-tasking. If you have difficulty with organization and/or you are unable to quickly develop a good working method, this job will be extremely stressful and is not for you. Lot of people are hired and quit after a few months because they can’t handle the workload/stress.   At first they don’t give too many files to manage but it adds up quickly. 

Management is supportive and accommodating and tries to help but they are also very busy so they are not always available to help on the spot.   

For people that can manage well the workload, pressure and stress, it’s a nice job with good career opportunities. The company has a nice culture overall. Good advantages also. But there is some downside like they don’t always pay overtime and more often than not, there is not enough staff for the volume of files coming in.

This company is a joke. No proper training, terrible employee experience and incompetent management. Manager or so called “leaders” are a joke, do not know anything about work standards and out right bullies. They spend their time eating and socializing and are not trained in anything. The only way to get a good bonus or move up it to suck up to them. They pick and choose their favourites and bully the employees they personally do not like. The managers look at your calls only if you do something wrong and never praise the good work you do.  Bonuses are selected based on their personal feelings about you and not about your work ethics. The job pays low compared to most insurance companies. Their claims are a joke and the whole training structure is pathetic. Save yourself from a low paying, butt kissing job and go for literally any other insurance company.

I went through 3 months of training and placed on a team, as soon as I started working on this team I was told by my team leader that this job is not for me and I should find something else to do.  It took 8 weeks after this conversation for this team leader to find enough mistakes to get me fired.  I was working 8 extra unpaid hours a day to get caught up on the extra work that they expect you to do without giving you the time to do it, when you ask to get paid for all the extra time they informed me that it was not approved by management.  The management was deplorable, they are quick to point out your mistakes but very slow to congratulate you when you do something positive like staying behind and doing extra free work.  I would not recommend this company to anyone.

Aviva is genuinely one of the best places I’ve worked. The culture is supportive, the work is meaningful, and the people are talented and genuinely care about what they do. I love my role. 

That said, the new 50% in-office mandate is a major step backwards. It creates unnecessary pressure, disrupts work-life balance, and has already caused the company to lose several strong employees who simply can’t sustain that requirement. Being forced back into the office half the time — regardless of role, performance, or team needs — is demoralizing and out of touch with how well we’ve all proven we can work remotely.

Aviva is a fantastic organization with so much going for it, but I truly hope leadership reconsiders this policy before more great people walk away.

Training was a mess. Mixed messages constantly from managers on how we should be working etc...

Managers unresponsive to changes from head office, teams followed suit. A lot of problems with processes and work loads and no avenues to change them. never have enough time to give customers the service they deserved. No feedback given unless managers were pestered again and again. 

No work life balance. They expect you to work through lunch and stay for extra hours unpaid to keep on top of work load. This is regardless of the fact that our managers worked mainly from home or typically left early to spend time with their families. 

Potential to be brilliant as the head office promotes good culture but with the wrong managers at the helm it’s a bit of a nightmare.
