Beaners Fun Cuts for Kids

ive been an employee of Beaners in Lethbridge since 2011 and manager since 2014. Such an amazing group to work with. I love my clients and have had the pleasure of watching my regulars grow over the years. Someone stated abivw that our salon has no licensed stylists which is untrue, at the time of her departure we had 2 full time licensed stylists and 2 part time that were apprentices. We've had a few stylists that were not good fits for Beaners and were toxic to the atmosphere but the team we have now is hardworking, friendly and caring. We've all become like a family. Rate of pay is higher than majority of hourly wage salons in our city and on regular tip days you can make about 50-75% of your wage in tips alone. 
There is definitley some improvements that could be made my H.O such as continued education, benefits packages and equal advertisements for all salons but for the most part it's an excellent place to work.

I worked at Beaners fun cuts for kids (windermere) for a year, first as a receptionist then as a hair stylist. 
Although the job itself was wonderful, the owners and management were unbearable. 
Short notice on shift changes, wernt allowed sick or emergency days. 
Messed up the schedule a ton, would attend work to be sent home . 
promised amount of hours per week were NOT given.
Not the same wages were given to each person in the same position with same experience (up to 5$ more an hour)
Staff turn around is VERY high! 
we were never supplied with what was needed to do our job.

I have been working for Beaners for 4 years and love it!  No other salons would allow me the experience this company has.  I have clients and a lot of requests now from working here.  I am allowed flexibility with my schedule.  No other salon I've worked at pays as much or treats their employees as well.  Hands down I recommend working here, especially if you're an apprentice and want to actually do hair.  Most salons start you washing hair and folding towels.  Here they have experienced stylists oversee your work and you can advance your skills quickly!

Screaming kids, kids who have disabilities- very difficult provide service

Very nice, good managment. Envioriment is good

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Preparation ( turn Tv, clean seats and etc), greet little clients and do your best

My experience in working for this company for several years is that it is an extremely fast paced work environment, and quite a thankless job. I absolutely love doing hair and working with children, however in this environment it was stressful. Employees are given few breaks throughout the day, and the way the chairs are set up to style hair is back-breaking. So many improvements could be made to make it a better environment for workers

the only problem was with this job was the shifts and not enough staff to get shift covered.i love kids so it was the place to be for me. i got along with co workers at a professional level until i did everything for them and got nothing in return.

This job was easy once you get the hang of a haircut required with the company, you have a lot of support from other stylist and I would recommend anyone starting out to work with this company.

Great place to work if you love kids! Staff and owner very nice appreciate the employees. I love working here! Tips are good most of the clients are great!

This is the first workplace I have started after arriving in Edmonton. The workplace is very interesting with friendly co-workers. They all are very supportive.
