What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A typical day as a Teaching Assistant at Bishop’s University involves preparing for  lab sessions, assisting students with coursework and assignments, grading submissions, and providing feedback. It also includes holding office hours to address student questions, collaborating with professors to align on teaching objectives, and managing administrative tasks related to course materials. Additionally, time is allocated for personal research and academic development.

Working as a Residence Assistant is a reasonable option for those living in residence and looking to offset living costs, though it's important to note that the stipend may not cover all expenses.

Pros:
You are provided with your own flat, allowing privacy without the need to share accommodations.
Tasks are manageable and can be fulfilling if approached with balance and clear boundaries

Cons:
Monthly night shifts from 9:30 PM to 3:30 AM can be challenging and may disrupt sleep schedules.
Management could improve in ensuring consistent accountability among RAs, as team dynamics and support vary depending on the year. While some years you may work with supportive senior RAs who offer valuable guidance, other years there may be less team cohesion due to hiring limitations.

usually I worked at midnight and end at 4 in the morning, my job was student portal or event security which charges Bishops' students' safety when they were in party or met some issues. The important things I learned are responsibility, emotional control, situation analysis and solving problem. The most cases I met were students drunk and fight, but in 6 month working, I and my partners have never written a report because I and my partners always found and solved issues in advance, and our co-workers help  and kindness. The Bishops students respect my job and treat us friendly, so I knew a lot of people and we become friends. These are my most enjoyable part. The hardest part is communication with drunk people, the uncertainty what they will do is risky for me and my partners.

There was a lot of camaraderie between the staff, however, there was a huge lack in communication in the work place, especially between staff and upper management. Lots of unnecessary mix ups in details and protocols to follow. There was a lots of preferences between staff members, and unpredictable support between upper and lower staff members. It was an enjoyable place to work, but expectations were too vague.  Hours were very flexible around ones lifestyle.

Working for the university student government is an excellent opportunity to influence change in the community. A closed office space is a huge perk for student employees who need a spot to study outside of work hours. Perfect for those who love to delve deeply into the root of institutional culture, since this job puts you in collision with university-wide decision makers on academic committees.

Excellent work environment.  The students are, in general, quite motivated and interested in learning.  The class sizes are very reasonable.  Management of both the university & at the department are quite good.  It appears people are happy to work at this university, everyone from the teachers, support staff, tight up yo management. 

Responsible to attend each class lecture, and type out organized class lectures for a student(s) to study from. Had to listen and remain attentive to the class discussion and what the professor was teaching. I attended two classes per week, gathering study notes, and send them to the councillors office by friday morning. �Key skills obtained: Punctuality, Fast-typing, Attention span and listening skills.

A typical day at work would be preparing the equipment for practices as well as games. Supplying the players with safe equipment to practice and play in. Maintaining equipment to comply with the safety standards.

A great way to experience first hand what goes on behind the scenes at a university facility. 

Fortunate to work with co-workers who were always willing to share the workload and management who was always there if need be.

The most enjoyable part of the job was being able to help service parents, fellow students and other customers.

The hardest part of the job was how the shifts were scheduled.

Working as a VP Marketing for Enactus Bishops was and is a great experience.
