Calabogie Peaks Resort

Seasonal worker accommodation is poor. Bathrooms are in a different building to bedrooms and all staff accom needs a revamp. Senior management is poor, there is seemingly little planning at the start of the season. You are required to be there from November onwards but there is little work, therefore little pay until January. The resort owner gets too involved with the day to day running despite having limited knowledge of each department. Staff morale is low due to the poor conditions. You can get insured on a staff car if you are 25+ but there are only 2 cars and they need to be booked in advance. Otherwise it is a several mile walk to the nearest shop. The resort manager told local staff who owned cars they weren’t allowed to help with lifts etc which made getting groceries very difficult. One of the staff fridges broke during the season and wasn’t fixed or replaced. 

I worked at Calabogie Peaks for four years. During that time I was given three raises, one promotion  and a multitude of responsibilities. 

Working at this medium sized resort will give you so many experiences in work and life, and will teach you the knowledge you need to succeed in the hospitality industry. 

The business is family owned, which makes it great to work, as the owners care about you, and enjoy watching you learn and succeed. 

I highly recommend Calabogie Peaks for a jump start in the hospitality industry,  you will make friends that will last a life time.

The staff at Calabogie are the nicest and most hardworking people you will ever meet. Its location is in a beautiful place. You are constantly meeting new people and there is never a dull moment. From being part of the staff, to serving customers to helping make peoples weddings just as they have always imagined, you are constantly reminded and told how much everyone values you and your work. I would strongly recommend anyone to work here and if not then to at least visit to see the amazing atmosphere they provide.

If you enjoy not having a life outside of this resort then all to you, avoid the manager he was extremely inappropriate in the workplace. Some of the best staff I have worked with, they are like family & are really great people. Awesome view every day, job is extremely physically demanding, hard on the wallet driving back & forth every day. Not a recommended place to work, they do not care about their staff.

Negotiate your pay before you start. Don’t accept their offer!

i have learnt a lot from my time at calabogie peaks which included improving my time management skills. I also was able to undertake more jobs which gave me more responsibility within the food and beverage department

I work the overnight shift, you need to be able to cope with hours of being alone in order to work this shift. You have to be able to problem solve on the spot for anything and everything you might come across. You have to be okay with hours of cleaning.

Dont waste your time working for this company, plenty of other resorts with a far better working environment.



Worked as team however there were definitely people who didn’t work as hard as the rest. One time I was left alone at hotel while rest of team left to do the condos and other rooms outside the main hotel. 

Typical day at work was just standing outside in the cold helping people get on and off the chair lifts. The hardest part of the job was the physical aspect but the most enjoyable was being able to talk to customers all day long.
