Camp Mini-Yo-We

Camp Mini-Yo-We is truly a magical place. My first summer at Mini-Yo-We was the summer of 2019 and it was by far the best summer experience I've had in my life so far. It challenged me to grow as a person, as a leader and in my faith. The people at camp are truly amazing people as everyone wants their peers to succeed and no matter what everyone is there for each other in times of need. Weather your struggling with something at camp or in your personal life outside of camp or you just need someone to talk to, the directors as well as anyone on lead staff are always there as people you can go to for anything and as people you can trust to talk to them about anything. I love this camp dearly and I would recommend it to anyone weather it was to send your kids there as campers, to do the L.I.T Program or to be a staff member, it's truly an amazing place to be. This summer will be my second summer at camp and I encourage anyone who is looking for something to do this summer to go to this amazing place.

In a typical day,  you would....
- interact with 20-80 people
-be outdoors teaching and educating
-help people overcome fears
-help with kitchen and meal duties
and much more.

My co-workers did well as a team and advanced in their skills. All were relatively positive.

The hardest part of the job... leaving it to make money elsewhere.

The most enjoyable part was the various ways in which you could serve as a leader.

The environment of this workplace is fantastic, you work with amazing strong people that really bring out the best in you. You get the chance to really impact peoples lives in a vey unique way. If you like the outdoors this is the place for you since most of the things you do are in fact outside.

A typical day at work would be setting 20 tables for breakfast lunch and dinner. Then washing all of the dishes each meal, followed by mopping dining area and dish pit. I learned that I work well with others a lot better than by myself.The management was really nice, I felt like I was treated equally and nicely. I didn't find my job hard at all, I actually enjoyed it. Everything about my job was enjoyable.

I needed to take care of a cabin of girls and make sure they were safe and healthy.
I learned much about leadership and was able to expand my own skills with interacting with others.
It was difficult when the girls didn't want to listen, but I loved spending time with them.

Working with kids 24/7 is a lot more fun than it sounds at Mini-Yo-We.
The staff are a ton of fun to work with, and the management is personable.
The only pay is an honorarium, but can be decent if you apply for the Summer Staff Fund (ask the director upon being hired)

MYW gave me excellent work experiences which I was able to apply later on in life in my career. Working with others and communicating with staff, campers, and parents can create a well-balanced individual.

The work was okay there was beautiful scenery a big part of the job was picking up garbage and doing groundskeeping a hard part was the heavy garbage bags especially if they broke open

This is the best place to be for the summer for any young person looking for something to do. The staff is amazing and its on a beautiful property. An awesome opportunity.

Camp mini-yo-we is a great Christian environment for kids also the staff. What I enjoyed the most while working there was the friendships I gained and being able to teach kids about God.
