I worked at Cascadia Metals for over a year and a half, gained hands-on experience in material handling and yard operations. The coworkers on the floor were generally good people and tried to support each other day to day.

However, my experience was ultimately disappointing due to a lack of clear procedures, training, and consistency around safety-critical tasks. Expectations were often unclear, and operators were expected to rely on general experience rather than documented SOPs or proper task-specific training. When safety concerns were raised, they were acknowledged but not addressed in a way that gave confidence that conditions had truly improved.

Communication between operations, health & safety, and management could be better, and there was a noticeable gap between what was said on paper versus how work was actually done on the floor. Turnover was also fairly high during my time there, which made it hard to build stability.

This could be a decent place to gain short-term experience, but for those who value strong safety culture, clear training, and structured processes, there is room for significant improvement.

Was a great place to work for, just gone down hill. its all about the profit, managers and owner don't give two cents about their employees. 

if your a brown nose your a lifer. you get 30 plus an hour. if not sorry no raise for you except the 1.5% annual raise. 

Supervisors bully their way up the ladder and step on every person below them, unless your one of the brown nose. 

if your one of the brown nose you literally don't have to work, get raises and praises. 

I see bunch of guys stand around or on their phones all day while everyone else picks up their slack.

first company ive ever worked for were people get away sitting at a chair on their phones for an hour and not get into trouble. 

Im so glad I left last year before it even got worst hearing the story's. 

Stay away from this company!

come join them if you like racism, sexism, favouritism, watch supervisors do nothing and get yelled at doing your job. 

alot of the managers have no clue what goes on around them. they only believe what their trusty brown nose employees tell them. 

Im not a disgruntle ex employee, just speaking the truth about this company the head office Delta location.

Worst management I've seen in my life. 

A lot of micromanagement daily. the operation manager will stand there and stare at you and say nothing for minutes and the whole atmosphere is weird AF. You can not do anything without the operation manager somewhere behind you watching you or going over everything you do throughout the day. Most the people get along. The sales get treated better then the guys in the shop. Took them years to just turn the heat on for us in winter. Any supplies you need in the shop the manager makes you feel like it's coming out of he's own pocket. 

The job is beside a dump, so a lot of birds pooping all over your vehicle and a nasty smell all summer.

The good is the job is easy, just fast pace at busy times and the benefits are good.
Christmas bonuses every year with Christmas dinner. With an annual raise from 3% up to 5%.
Company pays for tickets (forklift/first aid) 


The culture in this company is very toxic. The management is often rude and inconsiderate. I definitely felt that they don't want me to succeed while I was working here. This is the worst workplace I've ever been. If you complain, they will accuse you of insubordination and eventually get rid of you.

I wouldn't recommend this company to anybody. If you're desperate for a job and are considering working here, be careful. Managers/supervisors focus on finger-pointing rather than fixing the issue right away. Don't even try to explain yourself as they are "always right". You'll regret being accountable in this company. The management will only recognize you as a default target for blame whenever something goes wrong.

The Guy running the shipping department is very disconnected from actual shipping procedures and loading techniques as well as prioritizing what is important.

Cascadia has undergone unprecedented growth in the last few years and with this growth has come a lot of positives, and obviously, some negatives. They do try and learn from the negatives. Work/life balance is great, pay is competitive, benefits are fully covered and a great RRSP program and the Personal Days are good as well. The company's culture continues to get better and better with the help of new programs and the support of our long term employees and management. If you have a good work ethic and a good attitude, you will succeed here.

I come to work every workday confident that I will have tasks to complete and the knowledge to do it correctly. Training is always happening as there is always something new and different lo learn, even after years of employment. Cascadia has a great team of employees at every branch that work together towards the same goals - to safely and effectively get our products to the customers that need them, and to go home confident that there will be more work tomorrow. 

The company offers good policies and benefits. Unfortunately, the management at the Ontario branch displays favoritism and has started accusing employees of misconduct based solely on the testimony of favored employees. As a result, there has been a high turnover rate, with many employees I know choosing to leave due to the increasingly toxic work environment. It is no longer a pleasant place to work.

i have been working here for over a year. the company is really great and they care about their employees. They want to make sure everyone has a work life balance and do their best to change the negative mindset of some older workers. They newer workers have no issues. The older ones are just grumpy and need a reason to complain about anything. This is a great company to work for. 
Great company that cares for their employees 

Half the floor guys are good, other half are incompetent and management does nothing to fix the issue. The only way to advance is to suck up to the right people. If you have a opinion good luck to you. HR has zero clue about what goes on in shop, they just listen to the joke of so called mangers. Preform predetermined investigation into complaints. If you just don’t care and want a cheque and benefits. Don’t say anything and take whatever they say. Your ok.
