Each day I began with all systems checks, Citi audit department requires specific reports run and signed to verify all systems working properly. Citi Audit policy was critical because we work in a financial institution and all programming changes had to be accompanied with approved evidence each day. It was a constantly changing environment, we did approx. 100 move, add, and changes per week. I attended all meetings that required a telecom presence in order to advise the clients the best and most economical way to achieve the client’s requests.

I managed the Telecom ticket and request queues, making sure the work gets delegated to my team and completed within the service level agreement.
As the lead Sr. Telecom Analyst I was also responsible to submit vendor quotes or bills in the P2P Procurement System for approvals to issue PO's for the vendors. Any major issues with the equipment or the carriers, I was responsible to open the tickets and make sure management was updated regularly on the progress. Once the issue was resolved I submitted a final report to management with all the details including suggestions to ensure this issue could be avoided in future if possible.

I created all disaster recovery plans to route the call center calls and staffs extensions to the disaster recovery site. This was tested annually to make sure our carriers have the latest updates to all the routing plans.

I loved working at Citi and enjoyed interacting with the staff. This was important because management allowed us mange all our work and only those who didn’t need constant supervision survived, I would highly recommend Citi to anyone wanting to apply, and they’re a good a fair company to their employees


In the six years I worked at Citi I had a variety of jobs. For the past 11 months I worked for the United States as a Default Control Assisstant. My day consisted of updating a Mortgage spreadsheet, emailing, phoning or Instant Messaging Business Representatives for their response to a specific mortgage item. Making sure they had all the specific procedures needed to close the item. I was learning about the US and how they make sure they have their procedures in place to be compliant with their laws.

Although we were a virtual team, management was always there for support and encouragement and co-workers we only an email away for any questions you may have had.

This was a job I thoroughly enjoyed. It was very demanding and at times could be frustrating but I found if you did not get the response you needed then it was just a matter of rewording it.

The most enjoyable part of this position was when an item was closed and we could take it off our very long list. I also enjoyed talking to different business representatives, management and co-workers to come up with another way of handling a certain project.

A day would begin with planning and organization as every step requires a timeline, no room for errors as this will result in delay of payment to the clients. Your busy from 8:00am-2:30pm, non stop. You must have the ability to multitask with shifting priorities and to work independently.

 Co-workers were great, very friendly and always willing to help. My working environment was very multicultural you learned a lot. On special dates (15-31 of the month) payments are greater in volume, so the team comes together to get the job done. All deliverable and timelines are met. 

I guess the hardest part of the job was when someone calls in sick, the workload becomes heavy along with shifting priorities.

What I enjoyed was the morning huddle, we would spend 10-15mins to discuss previous day work and current day... very informative. And of course the monthly birthday celebration, every team would come up with a theme for the next celebration...sometimes it became competitive but fun.

A typical day is never typical!

Many aspects of this business is target driven, but with customer focus in mind first. We provide various types of lending, including merchant financing plans, while managing past due accounts, expediting insurance claims, general administration, and upholding the highest level of compliance.

It's very rewarding to assist people in need whether it be short-term fix, or long-term solution. We create solutions when clients encounter financial hardship and work with them step-by-step. 

Lateral movement and advancement is encouraged. There are many roles to fill and supportive colleagues to assist in the journey.

I've met lifelong friends from across the country thanks to the company sending me for training and kick-off meetings to places such as Toronto, Montreal, Baltimore, Chicago, and Houston.

Terrific company always taking care of its employees, great people and work environment.
As a funding specialist used to answer phones, file and organized information, do data entry on IBS system, work to support other departments like merchant support and credit department, operate office equipment like copiers or fax machines, use specific programs like Microsoft, Excel and, help with basic accounting functions.
I really love and enjoy the variety of task that I had to go through on a day at work. I learned to be fast and accurate and well-organized.
I learned to develop my work better thanks to all the incredible training offered by the organization.
The hardest par was to work overtime most of the time to meet the deadlines and get the work overload done. We where short staff and we have to deal besides Canada with US and Puerto Rico markets.
The most enjoyable part was the people within the organization and the great feeling of getting the job done and on time.

Great on diversity, provides opportunity to learn business and new technologies.Company invest in people and tries address employee issues. Is big on mobility and encourages employees to move across teams instead of leaving the firm.

The downside is in work life balance. Teams are located across timezones so days are very long. Meetings sometimes starts at 7:30 or even 7 in the morning and have to go on call sat night as well with locations in Asia, even while company is talking about work/life balance

Citi's location strategy means major chunk of team members are in cheaper cost centres like in China, limited resources in NAM appears to be pre-occupied for most time on L3 support while teams in other timezones are able to work without distraction on new functionalities.

Team events are organized for keeping up team morale, but these events are mostly after hours so goes into personal and family time.

Disbursed funds for cash cheques, validate and verify clients personal and financial information, booked appointments with clients over phone calls on a day to day basis. 
Accountability and correct information is the key to financial sectors. After this intern-ship I have become more responsible towards the tasks that has been assigned and a habit of double checking has been developed.
Co workers have been really helpful and they have guided me well through the entire course of the intern-ship.
Hardest part of the job was employing security measures so that the funds are not being compromised. Any loss of funds, I was to be held responsible in that case.
The most enjoyable part of the job was getting the cheques cashed as it was the easiest amongst all. Working Financial institutions can never be enjoyable for me.

This site is full of one specific ethnic unfortunately, which is definitely not fair to other ethnic and could potentially violate the equity of employment although they will not admit the fact.

There is only one culture: high pressure, work, work, and work. As a global company, people end up working around the clock and not being compensated accordingly.

Weird thing is they give employee a strange and high title, like AVP for all senior developer which sounds like Assistant Vice President, and VP is just the manager level in any other industry. 

Another factor making Citi a truly nightmare is its location, which is very far west end beyond Airport, this makes the commute a very high expense (travel time on forever jamming 401 and ridiculous high ETR 407 cost) to lots of people living in Toronto east/north end which are the traditional residence area.

Overall Citi is a decent place to work, its easy and friendly environment. The issue with the job is that overtime everything is very robotic, nothing really changes. You feel brain dead doing the same job day in day out. Managers can vary some being very nice and easy going, while others are strict and by the book. The HARDEST part of this job is career advancement. Theres little opportunity for growth within the company, often times favouritism is employed when new opening come up. Another negative is the very high employee turn over.  One of the worst parts about this job is its nearly impossible to get a day off, theres like zero flexibility at all when it comes to booking vacation. The nice part about working at Citi is the job itself is easy and very accessible area, lots of parking, diverse culture of people.

I always looked forward to going to work as the working environment was really nice at Citi.

I would check my emails and voice mails and accordingly prioritize my work depending on the level of urgency.

I loved my co-workers and we worked very well as a team.
The hardest job was when I had to leave Citi.
The most enjoyable part of my job was when I knew I had done well for the day and my managers were satisfied with my progress.

I was able to take online courses to better my self in Microsoft Office and in house training's of how to deal with people,  creating positive attitude in the work environment and many other workshops.

The management was awesome and I looked forward to going to work every day.
