During my time at the City of Wetaskiwin, I was initially very motivated to contribute my skills and support my team. My original manager provided constructive guidance and a positive work environment; however, after he left due to health reasons, the dynamics within the department changed significantly.

The incoming manager was new to the role and required additional support, which I provided to ensure continuity of operations. During this period, I experienced ongoing workplace bullying from a colleague. The behaviour escalated to repeated personal and professional attacks that interfered with my ability to perform my duties. After a particularly concerning incident, I documented the interaction and reported it to management in good faith.

Instead of addressing the bullying, the organization terminated my employment without conducting a meaningful investigation. I was not provided with a reference. A family member later raised the matter with the Mayor; however, the concerns were dismissed without further review.

There is no union .the city fires people like it’s a bodily function.except for the two lead hands ,no person higher than them has a clue how to run a municipality.you will be talked down too,lied too,spied on ,disrespected on all levels.when employees aren’t being let go they quit because of the complete and utter nonsense.The answer to all questions is “there is no money for that “ . On a positive side the lead Hands and most coworkers are the best people I’ve had the privilege to work with. 

The community/residents are in a very critical mode at this time and scrutinizing everything, both Council and Administration - and maybe rightfully so.
Management is in CYA (cover your a**) mode and communications are awful at best, almost secretive.  Expectations are different from job description, so beware!
Most staff outside of management are good but are very wary of speaking out - so if you are brave and decide to take a position here, be cautious of what you say, who you talk to and what about.
Recommend keep looking elsewhere.

Horrible  place to work.Very little room for advancement.No loyalty to longtime employees.When you start making more money they start looking for ways to get rid of you.Poor morale among the hard working loyal staff.
The City  has a bunch of clowns running the show.Where did the CEO and bosses up top get their so called credentials?Probably  from a box of crackerjacks.City Council should really take a close look at who they have running things at City Hall.

-Poor training and task assignment.
-Rude and unhinged co-workers that managers do nothing about.
-I had 3 bosses at one point which none of them actually made our job easier.
-Staff turnover rate is high.
-You don't need prior experience to get the job.
-If you are a positive person with a good work ethic this place is not for you.
-They treat you like a new toy, then after 2 weeks you see the real side of things.
-Worst Job experience of my life.

Working for the city of wetaskiwin is a trap. It is a tax target and you are in a really bad tax bracket. They pay you so little you are stuck working for them and the management sucks. Everything is micro managed and poorly at that. They hire pretty much anyone and don't fire anyone. I have been threatened at work and nothing was done about it. Very bad place to work.

I have worked at the City for over 10 years, love it. Management however needs some work. The city council changes all to frequently and are so different from one election to the next it is ridiculous. They are morons.

There was a decent amount of flexibility in my position.  Management  was weak and didn't take the concerns of employees seriously until issues got much worse.  I've had a few opportunities to get back into the city, but I don't think there's any amount of money for that.

A certain director feels she runs the place with her "boy" as the mayor. Threats of flipping tables are a daily verbal rant.
Like you one day, hates you the next 
zero consistansy work environment.
Too many good people have either left or been let go because she didn't like you.

Not much in the way of training. Very minimal instructions on what to do and how to do it, lots of  mindless tasks and underpaid. Abuse is often received from the public to which nothing is done, equipment is in very poor shape and repairs are only done if absolutely needed
