Working at the college was a great experience, and I was extremely lucky to have received the position. The typical work day is very relaxed, with the occasional busy period, especially at the beginning of each year during renewal. BEWARE: the first year working at the college is on a temporary basis, with contracts being renewed every 3 months.

Working at the College of Nurses was challenging and exciting. The independence required in the Quality Assurance Program provided personal development in confidence and competence.
To be part of contributing to nursing in Ontario was a privilege

Great job with lots of room for advancement.  I mainly dealt with nurses and those who wanted to enter the nursing programs.  I had to take in money for those nurses that were renewing their Certificate of Competence and to speak to potential nurses from other countries to provide them with what they needed to become a nurse in this country.

egrettably, their heavy dependence on HR agencies for sourcing talent extends to filling extremely short-term roles, leaving no assurance or certainty when it comes to the availability of full-time positions within the organization.

lots of lifting involved with heavy files. Lots of copying and paper handling.
The elevator was broken for over 2 months, which means we had to carry heavy weight via stairs. 
I was twice harassed by one of my co-workers for not being a Canadian.

The nature of the job was through a temp agency to process a high volume of nursing applications. It is a great job if you are in-between work. There are growth opportunities such as applying for internal postings. Friendly staff and management was great.

Cooperative place to work. Great work / life balance. Management is quite flexible and great to get along with. FInd that work is not challenging. Flexibility in working from home for specific teams.

havent really recognized how advanced RPNs scope is. still wont allow them into the day surgery unit and limit their scope on some units. other units you practice beyond your scope with little help from management

work Life Balance is great. It is a process heavy job and takes a while to understand the organization. Constant internal changes, but Salary & benefits are good.

College of Nurses of Ontario is a non-profit regulator that had a friendly and fun atmosphere with many supportive staff members.  I wish my contract there was longer.
