Honestly, the best part is being right in the middle of everything and making sure things run smoothly day to day. I like coordinating with the team and clients, fixing schedules, and handling any last-minute changes—it keeps things interesting. It feels good when everything lines up and the team has what they need to get the job done. It’s busy, but I enjoy the pace and problem-solving that comes with it.

A typical day usually starts with checking schedules, messages, and any updates from the team or clients. I spend most of the day coordinating shifts, making adjustments if there are call-outs or changes, and making sure all sites are covered. There’s a lot of communication with cleaners and clients, answering questions, and solving issues as they come up. Every day is a little different, especially with last-minute changes, but it keeps things busy and interesting.

Worked for this company for years, extreamly unprofessional. Was suppose to work for 2.5 hours my first time I was trained, worked from 7 pm until 1:30am and still only got paid a lousy $22 for 2.5 hours. 
Never got trained at one site, just sent in and told “it’s easy”. 
Never had the supplies I needed to do a decent job, so it ended up making me look bad. Had no choice but to use dirty mops and dirty rags. 
 Waited weeks upon weeks to be given new supplies, and to only be given enough to last me a week. Never gave me new gloves, I had to purchase my own, one a few occasions had to bring my own supplies from home. 
Was asked to clean a couple of offices and was told I would be given extra pay to do so, never received the extra pay, when asked I was ignored. Totally taken advantage of. 
Have had to sit in clients parking lots for hours waiting and wasting my time and gas  for the offices to clear so I could get in to clean. Always new superiors, so unsure of who to talk to with any problems, and when I did speak up and complain I was brushed off. 
No room for growth, no pay increase, no bennifits no matter how long you have been with this company or how hard you work for the years you have been there for. 

In other words PLEASE steer clear, do not waste your time unless you like being taken advantage of and know that you are only there for this so called unprofessional company to make money off of you!

The job itself was simple enough. 

You clean a location by yourself so it's quiet and easy to do. Sometimes it feels really slow because they expect you to take a lot longer than you need but not a big deal.

The negatives:
- Not flexible.
Because you work alone, they do not take calling in lightly and it is impossible to swap shifts. As a single mom, this made life more challenging and it was not a good fit.
- Low pay.
The pay is just not enough to live off of so you're better off going elsewhere.
- Hard to contact.
I was able to reach my trainer/interviewer through text but reaching management at all was harder than trying to pull teeth with your fingers.

And the biggest negative for me personally is that they file your pay under line 48 of a T4 which proclaims this is a self-owned business. When you do taxes, the form declares you as self-employed and you are forced to file as such despite working under a company and their hours. If you file your own taxes online, you end up needing to pay for package to process "your business" and if you file through H&R they have to charge the self-employed filing which is about $200. (Custom Clean tells you none of this so it was a super fun surprise for me during taxes)

The hardest part of the job is dealing with physically demanding tasks and unpredictable weather conditions. The most enjoyable part is the sense of accomplishment after completing the work and being part of a reliable, hardworking team.

Most of the work is independent and quiet, which makes it easier to focus and manage your time. If you run into an issue or need supplies, you can reach out to a supervisor for support.

I left Custom Clean as a Supervisor, to take on more responsibility with another Janitorial company. I have since climbed even higher with another organization. Obviously, if I was 100 percent satisfied with Custom Clean, I would have stayed. But, that is not to blame them. I have joined management with competing companies, so we often go head to head. It's business. But, I will say this: if you are honest, and reliable, Custom Clean will provide you with employment. I was always paid for the hours I worked. Being in the manager role now, I can personally vouch for the fact, that the timing of repairing equipment, and obtaining)delivering supplies, is not as easy as one would think, and us a uniform issue in the business. I once thought the owner was too emotional...but I now know it's passion, and protectiveness, for what he built from the ground up. Not a bad place to work at all. Just try and see things from both sides.
