What is the best part of working at the company?
Very inclusive environment makes for interesting conversations. The experience can be very positive or not, a lot depends on the principal. The staff is generally friendly and helpful, there is a team spirit in most schools. I was a CCW ( a shadow) for children suffering from autism and I thoroughly enjoyed my experience. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Following more than o e autistic child at the time because of staff shortages.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Work as a team, cooperate and help each other as staff.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Arriving at 8:30, greet the child in my charge and others who may need help. We change class for every subject so I have to prepare the child in advance for the move psychologically, and help him through the process. There are 3 recesses in the day so you have to help children get dress, go out to supervise the child you are in charge of, come in and prepare the child for class or for lunch. Supervise during lunch. End of day help the child gather what he needs for homework, write a note to the mum so she can help him and explain how the day went. Accompany the child to his special needs bus that takes the child home. Make sure he’s always properly dressed. Lunch with other colleagues is fun and informative as we share problems and those with more experience share their knowledge. The smaller the school the more of a sense of belonging in a community which is always a great feeling . 
My advice to someone considering this position is to be really engaged, very empathetic attitude,  stay positive, ability to stay calm and keep in mind that the child is limited cognitively by the illness so, never loose patience , but be firm because they need to become as independent as possible, they can learn if properly encouraged within their limits of course and never give up!

Implemented stimulating lessons to capture student’s attention and interest. Utilized discussion-based lessons in order to promote a deeper understanding of the concepts. Created and administered weekly quizzes and monthly tests to track student progress. Offered after-school tutoring to help struggling students improve their critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Participated in various extracurricular activities. Attended all staff meetings and professional development workshops.

Having to deal with thousands of students in both jobs has not only given me confidence, patience, and ambition for excellence, but it has also thought me how unwavering support can really make all the difference in someone’s life. That is the ultimate goal.

Keeping on motivating the students was sometimes the hardest part of my job. It has taught me how to persevere and to effectively  problem solve by approaching the situation with an open mind while developing different strategies to resolve and take charge.

The most enjoyable/rewarding part of my job was to make a difference is someone's life.

The cliental  I work with  often come in with fear, confusion, anger and despair. but most of all lack of trust for outsiders.

My day-to-day interaction was spend as the lead front line worker for children / youth with significant behavioral challenges I learned quickly no two situation are alike and no two individuals respond in the same way. 

Most of the student  had no intention of following the rules and or expectations of the teaches / schools. It was my job respond to the crisis, and to help find solutions for all involved .   

In a school with 300 and 400 students and lack of resource and teacher training etc.  it is difficult  at times to keep a balance and find ways of providing support and growth opportunities .

Establishing a warm, nurturing but firm relationship, with my students and families was often a major challenge but was also the most rewording part of my job.

Being able to see the changes take place with some of the most difficult students that would otherwise have being transferred were some of  my greatest success, and made going to work enjoyable   

my references with  back up my dedication and skills  .

Presence of  4 hours per day to do personal work. For example,  preparation of classes and corrections.
The administration was generally excellent over the years but sometimes not so good
I learned class management skills because the clientele in the Academic program was not an easy one
Teaching this diversified clientele was interesting as it included dropouts, criminals on bail or on  parole, special needs students
But as the years went by the clientele got easier
However, I spent the last four years teaching ESL (Basic Core program to newcomers )  and did not find this job as satisfying, The different clientele was not the issue. It was a matter of personal taste and the fact that I was more comfortable teaching French. However, I 
can teach both FSL and ESL adequately. It depended on the groups. Some groups of ESL were also fun and enjoyable 

* I first started working there as a substitute child care worker or special ed. technician. My schedule would vary from day to day and from week to week. Mostly working in high schools, I had to follow the child's schedule.

* As we all know, everyone is different, therefore I had to have different approaches with different children.  It was my responsability to get to know them and have them trust me.

* I have learned to treat everyone with respect, regardless of their age group and to never under estimate one's intelligence.

* The management/school principal(s) and my co-workers were helpful and great. I never had any problems with them. There was a mutual respect, I did what was expected of me and made sure I learned from my mistakes.

*The Hardest part of the job was not having a stabl eplace to work from. The uncertainty of my schedule and of where I would be working the next day or week. 

*The most enjoyable part is when being appreciated and recognized for my hard workk

Good people and nice facilities. The students are great!

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
As a substitute, I am usually obligated to go to different schools each day, and travel time can be considerable. Nevertheless, I enjoy the work a lot.

Very good and friendly, for the most part.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I usually start very early in the morning to find work for the day on the automated substitution system (ATSS). I can also be called or emailed by teachers who require a substitute-teacher.  When there is work, I go to the school and complete the teacher's duties as outlined by the lesson plan. I help students when they need assistance, and answer/explain all necessary material covered by the lesson. I maintain good order and discipline, always in a polite but firm manner.

My place of work is a good school board but like every other company or organization there is room for improvement.  You have the opportunity of working in a variety of schools with a diverse population. You also have the opportunity to enhance your skills through workshops and job training seminars. Working with the  my school board encourages you to improve your knowledge by paying 80% of your post education tuition. 
Working with students with special needs is a challenge but the results are rewarding. A typical day can be emotional draining when completing Math with a kid who is in grade 5 and working at a grade 2 level.The staff work together as a team to help each other and to help the students reach their full potential.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Monday through Friday, from 8:00 to 16:00, checking and following up on voicemail messages, e-mails, and parent's portal notes; producing and distributing attendance reports, providing customer service duties (office staff, teachers, students, parents); and delivering other administrative support tasks as needed

There are no good things about the EMSB. They don't care about you.

The directors are not truthful and play games with you. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It is pretty bad, they don't treat you fairly and gossip is everywhere. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Start at 8 AM, answer parents questions for admittances, complete forms, bookings are over booked because of director.  Most days you get no breaks, and your lunch is either late or starts before your hour is ended.  Most days you have too much work to complete within your 8 hours.  The director is unjust and doesn't care.

I worked with students with special needs. I appreciated the diverse and multiculturalism at the workplace, educational workshops, and was motivated by moving up to the next steps. The environment encourages new friendships and an openess to learn about various cultures.
There was gossip, cliques and fear culture, but it was manageable. I often felt overworked, disrespected and came home depleted. Nontheless, I valued the students and the important role I had in their lives. 
The staff show genuine dedication to the students’ well-being, yet they themselves are often subjected to unfairness from higher-ups.
