I came to express through the recommendation of a close family member who had worked there previously (although not as a temp). I went in and got all set up in person which didn't take very long, mainly just a few aptitude tests, some personal information and preferences and some questions about my working preferences (I.E. would you like to work night shifts etc etc).

I told express that I was available to be called in for work all the next week and they put me on their 'list'. After a few days of not being called I rang them up on the phone and let them know I'm still available for work. A few days later it was a friday and still not a single call. I rang them up once more and let them know I'm still available. This happened for the next two and a half months, calling in 2 or more times a week letting them know I was available for work and not getting a single thing.

Finally Express called me with a job, they told me I was going to be folding clothes inside of a trailer for several hours, seemed easy enough I took it. When I got to the job location (which I was several minutes late to because the directions they gave were not very good. They neglected to mention the area where we would be working at was in the back of a different companies parking lot... a company who had no idea that we were there on top of that!). I waited for the 'supervisor' to arrive for two hours in the blazing heat (He had the keys to the back of the truck so we couldn't start without him). I didn't know if we were going to have to bring our own water with us or not so I had only brought a 2L bottle of water which was nearly gone by the time the supervisor got there.

After the supervisor arrived he told us we were going to be hauling these sticky melting plastic bags filled with what should be clothes (many were not filled with clothes.) from one end of a 32ft flatbed truck to another one. When we got the trucks open and set up he took off to go to Walmart! and left us in the hands of a very nice albeit somewhat scary trucker(I say he is a trucker because that's what he normally does for a living, according to him he angered some of the higher ups and they had him unloading trucks as a punishment of sorts) who worked for the people I was being contracted out to. We worked for the next 3-4 hours tossing melting garbage bags from one truck to another and stuffing clothes back into bags if they happened to rip and spill out.

By the time we were almost done, the trucker guy called up the supervisor who proceeded to show up just in the nick of time to throw two or three garbage bags over from one truck to the other and then sweep. Then, he wouldn't even sign my timecard so that I could have a way to confirm I showed up and worked there! I called up the woman who had given me the job at express and told them I had worked there and she said everything had already been confirmed so thankfully that happened. That was just the first job I worked for express.

Overall I didn't enjoy working for express. Many of the jobs I was given were similar to the story I wrote above, incorrect job description, poor directions (I strongly recommend getting the address and putting it into a GPS if available so that you know where you are going), supervisors that don't supervise and, bad working conditions!

I was hired on to work as a packager for Sundial Growers, they then changed me to be a janitor without consulting me first, I did not get any say on my position.. I was not told many important things at the time. NOTE TO EVERYONE WHO GETS AN INTERVIEW: You are not going to be working FOR the company you work AT. They have a whole, useless system where you have to go through an extra person to get anything done. You have NO job security, they go through workers like no tomorrow, they don't care if you keep your placement, they have a billion other people who can do the job just fine, so from the moment you get placed you need to keep looking for other jobs. 

Travel is Not paid, even when its an hour both ways, they do provide a bus for long travel, but even then, non ideal. Breaks are not paid, for 9 hours at work you get paid for only 9. 

Its better to find where they will be placing you and apply there in person, For example, from a possible 24$ wage I was receiving 18$ of that. Just skip these middle men and go for the real deal, that way you have actual opportunities to advance in the company you're working at, and you get more money that way.

TLDR, if you're desperate, apply, but it should be considered temporary at best, do not rely on keeping this job for even a moment.

A typical work day was varied from checking holes with a rod for 8 hours to cleaning and working machines.
I learned what a production line process was like in regards to efficiency and ensuring products  are to standard. The management and co-workers varied from job to job however the overall impression i received from them was negative. Working with other temps was often grueling due to the pesamstic attitude they gave off about the job, and the management would often not treat the other temps with much better moods. The hardest part about the job to me was being able to prove that I was more then capable of the job to the point where I would gain a full time position in the company. Every job from the temp agency was extremely repeative and often thoroughly understood after a couple hours of work. This made proving efficiency and worth to the management difficult because I personally thought most people would be able to do the jobs that we as temps were givin. There were good parts of the job too. There were some nice people that I spent time with and had the experience of seeing what a variety of work places were like.

Some employees I interacted with were friendly and pleasant, which made the day-to-day environment more comfortable. The work/ duties themselves were ok as well, it is an opportunity for juniors who are freshly graduated, or people who don't have a degree.

However the onboarding and training process became unclear. There were situations where I felt feedback focused heavily on minor details rather than overall progress, which made the learning progress superficial.  In my experience, the training did not reflect the average level of structure or expertise .  Training was focused on administrative tasks/ receptionist duties, rather than sales and recruitment itself. What I applied for. 

There was also inconsistent focus on priorities. Certain avoidable errors, such as inaccurate or unnecessarily lengthy job titles (likely impacting brand reputation), were not addressed promptly, while significant attention was placed on minor details (such as having too many tabs open on computer or not using capital letters). Quite frustrating, really. 


A typical day at work included lifting heavy boxes of fashion items and moving them around the warehouse on pallets and pallet Jack trucks from 9am-9pm. Management were rude and treated us like slaves, our introduction was literally " i hope you can speak English because i definately cannot  speak your language( the fact that we applied for a job application written in English should have told him we all spoke  it), you will work and only work,no socializing, no phones and no one should be in a relationship, and if you have a problem with that, the door is right there" the building itself had only a fan working so it was humid, the only source of motivation to work were humorous coworkers and a single standing speaker blaring out rock music....my experience is probably different from everyone else on here mostly because i only up to that point, had worked Part-time, but its my own personal experience with the company, i try to help people in the best way i can.

Working as a bartender here is nothing but constant stress and humiliation. The supervisors are completely incompetent and have no idea how to manage the bar or the staff. They give contradictory instructions, change the rules several times within one shift, and always find a way to blame the bartender for their own mistakes. Communication from them is nothing but yelling, rudeness, and zero professionalism. The atmosphere is toxic, there is no workplace culture at all, and nobody respects your work or you as a person. The hardest part of the job is dealing with the supervisors and trying to work in an environment where chaos is the norm and you are not allowed to simply do your job. There is absolutely no enjoyable part — instead of professional growth, you get psychological pressure and emotional burnout. If you value your dignity and mental health, I would not recommend this place to any bartender.

The management team at express are so unprofessional that they will take any thing that should be held in confidence and tell the employer just do they think of ways to be rid of you and when it’s time to breach your assignment they don’t have the professional ethics to call you but rather email you the bad head as they don’t line to be challenged nor do they want to explain the reasons why, they all need to return back to school and be disciplined on work ethics and how to treat their staff members when it comes to dropping the ball abs conveying that your job is done or you are fired, trust me , they always have a replacement worker lurking in the wings to take over your job and they don’t care as they are getting a handsome sum of money from you for every hour worked, it’s not coming out of their pockets , they still get their hourly pay check but the worker they canned means nothing to them as there is always someone else to replace you.

I responded to a craigslist ad for a specific role only to be told there really wasnt that exact position, she just wanted to "reel people in" (her words not mine).

So i talk to her and go over a possible assignment and after about a week I get that asignment because they were to busy to start sooner and aparently had nothing sooner.

Im not going to get into details, but it was nothing like she had explained to me. It wasnt the type of job I was looking for. I told the front office manager i didnt like it and please switch me, she said the case manager ( or whatever they are called ) was away and cant do anything till shes back, thay was a tuesday. On friday after no response or anything I said i dont want to return there please switch me. She said good luck with your job search good bye.

I felt like i was lied to and that what I was looking in a job didnt matter. As long as they have a body filling a role they dont care.

I would suggest sticking it out and finding a real job, indeed makes it really easy.

I worked out of the Cloverdale BC office. You are a tempmory  fill in worker at different jobs. They will send you to a site that fits your talents,  if you find the job did not suit you that is ok. I had worked for Esso 20 years then Esso sold off all its sites so we were put out of work.. Not being able to find work I went to Express . They found me work right away. While working for them I worked at Potatoe Chip maker, Friut/veggie storter.  4 different Plastic Manufacturers. I was at one for so long that I got hired on full time there. They are proud when you do get hired on by  company they sent you to. In fact during a slow time at my new job they sent me to a place I had worked at before so I could keep my hours up! Also you can book yourself off if you want to go away. What I love is that I had visited Express Professionals Ranch in Yukon Oklahoma  with its Clydesdale Horse many times!
