I worked at GNC for about a year, and overall, it was a positive experience. The company offers a great opportunity to learn about nutrition, supplements, and health products. The training provided was thorough, and I was able to gain a lot of knowledge about various vitamins, minerals, and supplements, which I found valuable for both my professional and personal growth.

The work environment was generally supportive and collaborative. My colleagues were friendly, and we often worked as a team to ensure the store was organized, and customers were assisted quickly. The customer base was diverse, so it was interesting to interact with people who had different health and fitness goals.

One of the perks of working at GNC was the employee discounts on products. This was especially useful for someone who is into fitness and health. Additionally, there was a sales incentive structure, which kept things exciting and motivated me to meet targets.

On the downside, the pay wasn't as competitive as I'd hoped, especially considering the level of product knowledge required. However, the job did help me develop communication and sales skills that I could apply in other roles.

Overall, GNC was a good place to work if you're interested in the health and wellness field and enjoy a fast-paced environment. It's a great starting point for those looking to build a career in retail or customer service.

Customer service job that provided extensive GNC University training on the hundreds of different products including new and upcoming products available.  We offer advice to customers on health regimes as well as products to enhance their workout.  Handled large amounts of cash on a daily basis as well as basic accounting skills with balancing cash control at the beginning and end of each shift.  There is daily goals that are required as well as basic cleaning, organizing, inventory, and expiry date checking of the products in the store.  Management gives us tips and advice on ways to meet all required goals on a regular basis.  We work independently as well as with co-workers for a portion of the shifts.  The hardest part of the job was dealing with upset or agitated customers however I am usually able to diffuse most situations in a calm and professional manner.  I enjoy being able to learn about new products on a daily basis.

I had managed a retail location for over 5 years. Overall it was a great experience with direct sales. Although their training has improved over the years, it is certainly lack luster and does not provide ample knowledge for the breadth of products offered. Corporate made extremely poor decisions that cost them the company and forced them to sell to a Chinese pharmaceutical company. The writing was on the walls for years as a steady decline forced them into bankruptcy protection and eventually selling the company. The interactions with customers and staff are what kept me there for so long, alongside my genuine wanting to help people. I built some great relationships with folks that I still have great contact with today. I would say that if you are a younger person with needs of supplement employee discounts, this is a decent place to work. It's also fairly relaxed, but that all depends on who your manager is and their regional rep.

Working with GNC was good at first till management stepped in. The regional manager would come into the store only to complain about every little thing and be negative. My mental health was impacted everytime I went to work because of how negative she was. We were not even allowed to lean on the counter infront of her and if the employees talked to each other to much that was also a problem.When it came to hours, we were told to bring in more sales to get more hours but this store barely had customers come in which was really out of the employees control. Management treated us like a joke and then provided hours when people were quitting. Most employees Ive worked with quit and move onto other jobs. I highly suggest saving your time and look for work somewhere else. 

Working at GNC used to be much more worth it prior to being bought out from their debts. Prior to October 2020, commissions were apart of the job culture which was great if you were good at supplement knowledge and building customer relations. But starting November 2020 the company ceased individual commissions which means part time staff lost on average 200-300$ a month and full time staff upwards to 1000$ with no pay raise. 
They require strict dress code, but still haven’t provided the polos they were supposed to gift in February 2020 (as of may 2021). 
I will say an positive to working at GNC is learning in-depth knowledge to supplements and specific processes. The first week of working at GNC is strictly supplement education.  

Assisted customers in need of herbal products, to obtain their goals. Was trained in various levels of digestive health, and completed GNC University, class 1 The Nutrients. Management was good to the employees at this site, allowing them the freedom to do their jobs correctly. Enjoyed working as a team with other associates or independently. The hardest part of the job, was multitasking, weather dealing with customer, relining the store, dusting and basic merchandising, along with daily emails and other management assignments. The most enjoyable part was seeing a customer go away with a smile on their face, completely happy with their choices and experience within the store, and knowing that you would see a happy customer again.

In this position I have learned a great deal about nutrition and overall body composition, A typical day at work consists of customers coming first and helping them to buy the supplements to achieve their personal goals. In between will be paperwork and store ops ( cleaning, ordering and scheduling). Overall this has been the best place for me to gain experience in managerial skills and organizational skills. The hardest part of my job currently is work life balance. The most enjoyable is most definitely the customer interaction. I come across all types of people everyday, and i really enjoy the ability to help them achieve their goals... and then to see them come back time and again and seeing the goals accomplished with my own eyes.

I was brought into GNC at store level by a friend after moving back into my home town. I excelled at the position and quickly moved into managing my own store. After managing for about 5 years, I accepted a position in the Canadian Head office. Once I was at the head office I realized that the major hurdle is the US office. The US office sets unrealistic goals, refuses to help you, denies you the things you need to obtain to achieve the goals, refuses to update your systems and hardware, and forces changes on you that best serve their stores which do not work on your outdated systems.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The customers were are looking for new and innovative products.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The lack of pay and the District Manager of the east coast does not know a thing about supplements, not a good thing if she is suppose to be over a bunch of stores. She knows lingerie, as she was in that business before.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The old culture was good and team environment. The new company and culture is one where you have to watch your back as there are back stabbers who walk over you for a few bucks.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Come in, prep store, send out orders and help customers out.

Great place to work. Talking with customers was fun and enjoyable. However, the company had stats to be met for selling specific products that didn't always match up with what a customer may need. This creates issues between selling what the person needs and what the company feels they should buy.
I learned a lot about the types of products and how they can aid in people's health. Co-workers were fine, it's always a toss-up, but most of the time I was on my own anyway.
GNC places too much importance on stats. Get rid of the stats and sell what the customer needs and this job is perfect, but until then, it's not quite there.
