A typical day at work was saying my pitch to customers throughout various neighborhoods in hopes to get them to participate in donating to our Charity Foundation. Having the privilege to interact with new people everyday really improved the way I communicate to people along with my office etiquette, and strong work ethic. The management was extremely supportive and trained me to do my best each and every day. I enjoyed knowing that I was able to get deals at the end of each day and knowing that the donors money was going to a great cause.

When I worked at GFD for a brief period in 2018, I was hired as part of a small team of donation solicitors. We were expected to recruit monthly donors to the Canadian Cancer Society, with "leads" generated from people who donated once to a campaign, sometimes 7-8 years ago. They had no idea why we were calling and found it extremely invasive. We had to ask very personal questions about illness, death in the family under the premise that this would be an "in". When they say they want "sales experience", they mean that you have to be manipulative, coercive and willing to bend the truth in very specific ways.

This was a terrifying experience at first, and its the best thing ive ever done. Perusing sales isnt what i hope to do permanently although it helped me break from my shell and taught me so much i can use these skills anywhere i decide to go. This job surprised me into learning i have communication skills with people naturally. I gained confidence i never had. I think everyone should try door to door at least once.

I loved working there as it was a rewarding job, however the reason I left was because they changed the pay structure so that if you did not meet a specific quota, you were not paid for any of the success you had, meaning your salary was around half minimum wage, and I found that unacceptable.

honestly, I work at the place for only a course of 2 months just to get money for school and whatnot but the job was terrible. 

People were forced to work long hours for pay that was not appropriate for the amount of work we did. Terrible

It's a typical door to door job, take that as you will. Nothing to write home about. But you foster great friendships while working and you feel a sense of belonging among employees.

It's a good job in the summertime. Lots of friendly people and you get a lot of experience talking with people. Wouldnt recommends thou if you are wanting a job indoors.

Great company but employee retention is through the roof due to nature of business. Great Management and staff! Learned so much working here which is applicable to any client facing or customer service role going forward.

its very hard to make money because speaking skills has to be top tire you cant fake speak which will eventually put in  risk of not getting any employess

Don't work here unless you love low paying jobs and being unsatisfied at the end of the day. It was "direct" sales which is just door to door sales. If you can make it in this field good on you but I think that is a very rare case.
