My experience at Interprovincial Corrosion Control was marked by numerous issues that made it one of the worst job experiences I’ve had. Here’s a detailed account:

Toxic Work Environment: The work culture was profoundly toxic. Employees were isolated from one another, rarely greeting or engaging in meaningful conversation. The atmosphere was stifling and oppressive, dominated by fear rather than collaboration.

Family Business Dynamics: As a family-owned business, all key roles were held by family members who maintained tight control over every aspect of the company. This created a rigid hierarchy with no room for discussion or addressing issues. The family members seemed to believe they were infallible and the best in the world, making any form of constructive feedback or change virtually impossible.

Excessive Micromanagement: The owner’s obsessive need to micromanage was evident in many ways, such as the strict enforcement of policies. For instance, even a seven-minute delay in the morning resulted in a deduction from our paychecks. This level of control extended to every detail, creating a highly oppressive environment.

Unqualified Management: The management team, often chosen based on favoritism rather than competence, made poor decisions and enforced harsh policies. They were unbelievably moody, with their reactions changing dramatically from day to day. This created an unpredictable and stressful work environment, where employees had to constantly adjust their behavior based on the managers' fluctuating moods.

Unreasonable Policies and Practices: The company had many unreasonable policies. Employees were discouraged from talking to each other and were expected to act as spies, reporting on one another’s behavior. Asking questions or seeking clarification often resulted in harsh reprimands, adding to the overall discomfort.

Misleading Promises and Exploitation: When hired, we were promised salary increases after a few months. However, once employed, excuses were consistently made to avoid raising salaries. Additionally, employees were often required to perform tasks outside their job descriptions without additional compensation.

Low Compensation and Inefficient Operations: Despite the demanding hours and stressful conditions, the compensation was notably low. The company’s obsession with excessive paperwork—constantly copying documents for no clear reason—reflected broader inefficiencies and mismanagement.

Lack of Support and Respect: There was no provision for sick leave, and employees were expected to arrive early and leave late without exception. Even routine activities like leaving the office required permission, making daily work life unnecessarily challenging and unpleasant.

Impact on Health: Working at ICCC was so damaging that it likely necessitates seeking both mental and physical health support to recover. The relentless stress and oppressive environment took a severe toll on overall well-being.

Overall, Interprovincial corrosion control offered a deeply unsatisfactory work experience characterized by poor management, toxic policies, and a lack of respect for employees. Prospective employees should be aware of these significant issues before considering a position there.

Office hours are 8:30am-5:30pm (with 1 hr lunch break), all in-person work. 
Typical day consists of answering phones, responding to emails, distributing correspondence to various departments, processing purchase orders as sales orders, creating invoices, filing paperwork, updating Sales software, along with any projects which may come about.
There are many long-term staff onsite, which I find very useful as they are able to answer my questions from their years of experience. The business is family owned and operated for over 65 years and have an efficient system in place. It's a very dynamic, niche industry as you grow with the company you gain a lot of product and technical knowledge - making it a rewarding job.  Management is run by a core team of individuals, many on the team have been with the company for 10-20 years. I have (in most part) had positive experiences with management; even if I disagree, they will take the time to listen, review and explain the best course of action. 
The hardest part of the job is upholding our customer's timelines and maintaining accurate output of information/paperwork. The company keeps a high standard for work output, with many cross-checks to ensure of maintaining a high standard, so attention to detail is really important (i.e. must check your work for accuracy in a relatively quick timeframe to be able move on to the next task). 
The most enjoyable part of the job is getting to work with a good team (everyone is approachable to answer questions), gained a lot of new and diverse work experience over the years by completing different tasks, employer occasionally organizes staff appreciation events (which is a nice way to socialize with colleagues). 
Overall, in my opinion, it's been a good experience working for Interprovincial Corrosion Control. I would recommend working for this company, especially on a long-term basis for optimal procedural knowledge and career growth with employment security.

I am a summer student who has been working at ICCC over the past three summers in the plant/production department. A typical day consists of starting at 7:30am, working on specific projects through out the day (with breaks at 10am and 3pm, and lunch at 12pm), and usually heading home around 5pm. We are also presented with the opportunity for increased pay (time and a half) when overtime is required to finish rush-orders (occasional Saturdays – pizza lunch included, and/or working until 6pm). Recently, my responsibilities have involved working in the machine shop, whereby we construct 'Rustrol' products. I have enjoyed my time at ICCC over the years, and especially this summer. The company has increased my qualifications by signing me up for courses (including fork lift training, fall protection, confined spaces, safety training, etc.), and provided me the opportunity of using AutoCAD software. It is a very dynamic atmosphere, with various projects underway daily, involving different departments. Management enforces many policies and procedures, which helps keep people on track with priority jobs. ICCC has even provided ‘staff appreciation’ lunches/food trucks for our hard work. Overall, I have had a great experience working for ICCC over the summer’s I’ve worked here! It is hard work, but I’ve gained a lot of useful and valuable experience from it.

As a former-part-time accounting assistant, I learned a lot of valuable work experience at ICCC. I had little accounting experience at the beginning, but caught on quickly. The management team was very patient and helpful throughout my learning, which allowed me to develop my skills. 
High standards are expected in each department (as is with any company), which keeps the office running in an organized manner. Documents, policies, procedures, are kept up-to-date in order to keep the office functioning like a well-oiled-machine. Which is appreciated, as it makes things more efficient, organized, and prevents mistakes working their way through the office. 
I enjoyed the fact that there was a weekly routine to the job, but it also included a daily variation of new things to learn (and develop new skills) and new jobs to accomplish.
Overall, I was able to learn a lot from ICCC. Not only learning more about how to effectively use various computer software, but also how an office environment runs, and how to work as an efficient team in order to get the work done. I have managed to since apply this valuable work experience I gathered at ICCC to other jobs, and settings, and thus has carried me forward and was a positive experience.

ICCC is the leading corrosion control firm throughout Canada, and Globally. So, there's always things to do around the office to keep you busy. It can be a fast-paced environment during their busy season, which keeps things moving throughout the day.

The company has a great work atmosphere, with friendly and helpful colleagues. Everyone works well together and will help each other out if asked.

As I have been a summer-student, I needed to be trained in a lot of various areas, and ICCC management was very accommodating to teach me, and has been patient as I learned the new skills. 

To improve the efficiency of the workplace, technology is also kept up-to-date and fixed (if necessary) in a short timeframe. Suggestions to the management from the staff are taken into account in order to improve the atmosphere and efficiency. 

Overall, ICCC has provided me with valuable work experience, a friendly work atmosphere, and a professional and helpful management team to help me improve my skills.

I enjoyed my time at ICCC. I was with the company for many years and valued my relationships with both colleagues and clients. 
The work culture was enjoyable, as colleagues got along (ie no drama), and management was fair and approachable. There was a lot of teamwork involved between departments, and lots of opportunity for discussions in weekly department meetings. 
I believe I grew a lot with the company. They provided training on-site with reading material, PowerPoint presentations, talks with Supervisor, etc. I gained a lot of product knowledge and networked with Clients within my position.
I left the company on good terms, and would highly recommend ICCC to future applicants.

You can learn a lot, the company is very good at investing in the staff they have, always promoting within, and encouraging staff to exceed their skills.

I found the work to be challenging yet rewarding. The company is very unique in what they do; I have enjoyed learning all the different aspects of the job/company, which also kept the job from becoming repetitive. I am always being challenged and learning new things.

The owner is very hands-on and values every single employee, he is the first to compliment his staff on a job well done, which is rare.

Overall, ICCC is a great atmosphere to work, with an open office concept. Management are courteous and friendly and the organization values team bonding.

I have been working at ICCC for a few years and have been taught many useful skills. 
The typical workday would be starting work at 7:30 and ending around 6:00. We have x2 15-minute breaks during the day as well as a 30-minute lunch period. 
I have been taught how to use a Mill, Lathe, Drill Press, Hydraulic Press, Soldering, Forklifting, and Packaging. 
The workplace is very helpful in teaching you all the skills, and everyone is very helpful and enjoyable to work with. 
The hardest part about the job would be that is very fast-paced. The most enjoyable part about the job would be when it isn't as fast-paced and that you can catch up on the next job and get ahead of it so that it won't be as stressful later.

I worked for ICCC for over 17 years, in various office positions. Although very busy during construction season, the work environment could be fun and challenging at the same time. The possibility for advancement is proven time and time again by staff being hired for an entry level position and able to work their way into a leadership and/or supervisory position. There is a generally welcoming atmosphere with Management and employees, whether in the office or the production area.  Overall a great experience.

While working for this company i was introduced to many aspects of the business. I was taught everything from general administration to assisting with the purchasing department, and arranging freight transportation. I truly feel I gained so much more knowledge and experience from working for this company. They take the time teach their staff regardless of the department all about the industry they are in and the company was keen to invest in their staff by way of supporting the individual through updating there skills.
Friendly office environment, equipment is updated annually and management is very helpful.
