A definite mixed bag depending on the person you are.

The job itself is usually fast-paced, understaffed in many areas with lots of pressure. The work can be somewhat enjoyable once you are accustomed to it and if you connect well with your co-workers. The management (within mostly ALL departments) is corrupt and borderline abusive at times. One particular manager was routinely late to work every day leading to a delay in the work day and more pressure to those working for them who they were not always treated with respect or appreciation. It is fairly routine to see managers take long breaks and drink alcohol before returning to their duties. The general work culture is very harmful with so many situations between departments set up to clash and breed much anxiety. Lots of behaviour is enabled such as many higher up employees exhibiting sexism, misogyny, homophobia, etc. against other workers blatantly without repercussions. Both with the work culture and living with your co-workers as well creates lots of constant drama.

The accommodations for staff miss the mark completely. Some houses are much better than others but most new employees get stationed in a house of 18 people that is quite nightmarish - unsanitary and unsafe, people were constantly getting sick, etc. It was often hard to get people living there to collaborate on cleaning the house when it was in such bad shape to begin with. It is not out of the ordinary to find mice at times in the house and to have a case of bed bugs. The only positive I would suggest is that the housing is very affordable - at one point being $3/day but seems to continuously go up each year.

There is a pretty consistent party culture both in work but especially at the staff accommodations. If you have a "work hard, play hard" mentality and want to have a fast-paced summer with a combination of stressful work and constant partying, maybe this will work for you! But it is definitely not the place for someone who prefers to keep to themselves, is a recovering addict or is generally uncomfortable being around a party environment.

It is very much like high school - very gossipy, very toxic. If you want a college-like experience, then this can qualify. It is easy to meet new people and get close to those you would not have typically met otherwise and there can be a bonded family dynamic if you connect with the right people for you but if that is not the case, I do not think it will be a very enjoyable experience.

That being said, it is definitely a unique experience working/living here and if you can tolerate the many cons to this place and click with the right people, you may have a good experience and you 100% will have LOTS of interesting memories, to say the least. It is quite a particular place that needs to be experienced and cannot be explained - it is that wild.

Yes, it is chaotic, toxic and harmful to many types of people but it can also be a nice getaway from reality if that is what you are seeking. A mixed bag, an experience unlike any other, but very harmful.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The location is nice as are the co workers.  

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
A  new middle middle management person they brought in has no people skills and bullies people.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
There is no appreciation for dedication or extra effort. Management will swiftly turn on people to cover their own behinds.  Even people who have given several years to the company are threatened with calls to police if they haven't moved everything out and vacated staff housing within 24 hours of quitting or being let go.  Many end up stranded in a remote  area with no place to go and no way to get their belongings someplace safe   It's barbaric really considering many are young girls living paycheck to paycheck.  

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A typical day can be rewarding and fulfilling or stressful and excruciating depending if the department head you work under favors you or has decided to target you to show eveyone how powerful he is because inside he knows what a clown he is.

During my time, managers partied with staff regularly bouncing between the different staff accommodations per night. It doesn't matter if you needed to work in the morning. 
Some managers will harrass you for no reason, and will professionally bully you if you let them or if you don't know your employee rights. 
At the end of the day, if you fit in with the right crowd(s) and can party with your managers you will probably get along just fine.
Otherwise, staff accommodations always have had mold issues as well as a particular manager who favors the serving staff above all, and will also put their favorite employees in the best available accommodations. Favoritism has always been an issue at this property.

One of the worst places I've ever worked, and I've been in the industry for 25 years. Management doesn't care about staff. i was grossly underpaid. Kitchen equipment is constantly breaking down and not being fixed. Staff don't know what they're doing.  Staff housing is a complete joke.  It's dirty, disgusting, and moldy. Constant drinking and drama. There's been multiple assaults, and even worse assaults. and what does management do? Nothing. They just ignore everything and sweep it under the rug. In short, if you want a fulfilling job that makes you happy, this is not the place to work. 

Hecla has a lot to offer the right person. Working out here is an intense experience that will challenge you professionally and personally, and reward you if you rise to it. The work is fast-paced and demanding at times, but the pay is good, and the team (at least right now) is amazeballs!

I don't really know as I was hurt and when I was able to come back to work I was let go

The chef can't  do his job and the staff ( the old sous chef ) are so safe involved that you have no chance to make work friends

It was full of sadness as no.one would talk to me or they would just talk be hind my back

You are stuck on a party drug island where everyone is doing everyone else. Management preys on new female hires before they know what they have gotten into. Basically.. zero professionalism as you don’t have separation from home and work. Favouritism is absolutely a thing that will make or break you there. Living conditions are very poor. Lots of mold and lots of loud roommates. Overall poorly run.. little respect to others…Definitely not worth it!

Good place to be able to have discretionary income given expenses are low.  But working here without a vehicle has huge challenges such as organizing transit to pick up groceries.  They would do well to organize a shuttle for staff to make living less stressful.  Think twice about applying if you don’t have active transportation!

It’s really nice place to work in specially in the summer, for those people who they love nature, there’s lot of fun to do , about work environment it’s a good place for making money, the stuff housing just few minutes walking to the resorts, kitchen staff & the head chef they are very friendly, and always there for you as a new member..

This place is really good if you want to save money because you don’t really go anywhere. It is really slow in the winter. The staff are relatively friendly but there is an insane amount of gossip and talking behind peoples backs. It is beautiful and can be a fun place to work as long as you don’t get caught up in the drama
