Managers that are rarely in the office, and if they are, their doors are shut. Makes it difficult to approach them when they make themselves so uninviting. Even if you do speak to them, nothing will ever happen, so any complaints or suggestions fall on deaf ears. 

The work is mind-numbing. If you want an administrative assistant job in a law firm, then this is the place to go! You'll send couriers and scan. If you're looking to do meaningful legal work, this is not the place. It runs like a factory, except no one knows what's going on. Information is not widely shared so there are often surprises. 

Some toxic people (as with any office), but when it comes from partners, it's a bit harder to swallow. I've had to hear many comments about Indigenous people, farmers, homeschoolers, people living at or below the poverty level, etc. It's offensive and even moreso coming from someone who is supposedly highly educated. 

Hard workers are treated poorly while assistants who watch Netflix and shop on company computers are rewarded. Go figure. 

I joined MLT Aikins as a Paralegal in November 2024, coming from a much smaller firm where I was warned that at a big firm, I'd just be treated like number. That couldn't have ben further from the truth. Since day one at MLT, I've felt truly heard, supported, and valued - more than I ever was in my previous role. 

The culture here is amazing - collaborative, respectful, and uplifting. The leadership is approachable and always willing to mentor and guide, they invest in employee development. I'm constantly learning and growing in my role and I never feel discouraged from asking questions when I am unsure. 

Work-life balance at MLT is the healthiest I've ever experienced. At my previous firm, long hours and constant pressure were the norm, no matter how much I gave, it was never enough. Here, it's completely different - my time is respected and there's a real understanding that people have lives outside of work. It's clear that MLT cares about the well being of the team, which makes all the difference in how I show up everyday.

Its a routine job work timing from 8 to 4 with one hour unpaid lunch break and 2 break of 15 minutes in  morning and evening. I have learned a lot from training champions and experienced team members. The Management is very good and they keep observing and asking to new hire members if seeking for any help, assistance or training.  Management also Keep Asking new hires about suggestions , Ideas and feedback that how they feel about working environment which is good. I found that is very best working structure as we can also earn Earn days off  which is best for work life balance policy. It is very hardest to find any loopholes of the company as I am getting all the help and support from team members. The best part is Event , Activity they are arranging As MLT is keep organizing events , activities for team members which is also good opportunity to do something extra apart from work.

As a long-term employee, I feel that I have grown with the firm as it has merged and expanded from a well-respected Winnipeg firm to a well-respected Western Canadian firm. The people who make up the firm (staff, managers, lawyers) are top notch and the firm leaders are exceptional. Coworkers are supportive and caring. I drive a great deal of joy from my position with the firm and my incredible colleagues.

I was given a great opportunity when I was offered a position at MLT Aikins. I was fresh out of college and I was eager to start proving myself and was I ever put to the test in this fast-paced environment. This has been an amazing place to learn and grow professionally. People are incredibly nice and helpful. The work is very interesting and requires an ability to prioritize, to work fast but with a focus on details, and to accept that mistakes will be made but you learn from them and commit to be better. It is important to remember that this is a place of business and as such, the expectations for their staff are high. As long as you prove that you are resilient, resourceful, show initiative and are willing to be a valuable member of a team, you will have a successful career here. I would recommend this business to anyone who wants to work hard.

I am grateful and fortunate for getting the opportunity to work with MLT Aikins and hope for a long and successful career with growth here. My experience has been nothing short of awe starting from the screening call till now. I was given an assignment to complete prior to the interview and a very well planned interview thereafter. Joining the company was another super positive experience with carefully crafted agenda for training and self learning opportunities. Colleagues are friendly. Managers are forgiving and welcome open discussions and opportunities to improve on areas of growth. I could go on and on but in nutshell, I feel blessed to be a part of this wonderful organization & grateful to my superiors for this opportunity.

I have worked at a variety of firms, of all sizes, and MLT Aikins LLP is where I have stayed the longest and had the best experience.  We work hard and are continually growing and changing, which I appreciate.  Teamwork is a firm focus so we all have the support we require and are the most efficient. I appreciate the people I work with so much and while we are challenged daily with deadlines and workloads it is manageable and invigorating. Lastly, our benefits package and RRSP matching is really outstanding and something I value greatly.

One of the best places I've worked. I joined the firm shortly before its merger and have seen steady, positive growth of the culture and leadership. Issues seem to be identified and addressed. Personally, I've been able to develop my role and take on increased responsibilities, and I feel valued and fairly compensated. I've had opportunities for mentorship and external training to support my professional growth. The maternity/parental leave top-up and other employee benefits are excellent and continue to improve. Recent projects (intranet refresh, internal newsletter, regular updates from the Managing Partner) make me feel well-informed and connected to what's happening in the firm.
