A typical day at magic cuts was mainly enjoying the clients that came in.. Always lots of small talk so it never was a boring moment having someone in my chair and being able to converse with them.

I learned a lot at this job..  I learned how to deal better with the public and what their needs were.. And to give that to them.:) I also learned how to close the business and deal with the money at the end of the day and take it to the bank. 
Always honest.. Whether you didnt want to hear it or not.. That I did appreciate because this is how I would learn to grow.
My co workers were fun loving people as so was myself.. So that was always a good experience. 
The hardest part of the job was probably the time frame in which you were given to do a hair cut and make sure it is as is should be. That was a learning experience simply because as time went on.. Just like anything else you repeat.. You get it. And it becomes much easier.
The most enjoyable part of the job was the smiles.. The chats.. The people around,, I was on my feet all day in a job like this and I would have never even realized it for the people that I was able to spend time with and enjoy..

I have never worked somewhere that has no support on anything, all training was was watching a bunch of videos about the Point Of Sale system, so most things I had to figure out on my own, The regional manager was great with helping me where he could, but his time is also limited as he has 16 stores to watch over. I was told the shop was getting renovated in October. It has yet to be done and as far as myself and costumers are concerned, it is the most unprofessional looking salon I’ve ever seen. I as manager had a lot of issues with staff calling in. Everything you do is so micromanaged, as well you are being watched at all times (I understand security purposes but the cameras are for more then that), it also very common to work alone which is a real safety issue. They expect high service per hour numbers, even though it’s a super slow salon, also the pay is terrible for what’s expected of you. There was just nothing about this place I enjoyed other then most of the customers

Duties included; suggest hair styles compatible with client's physical features and determine style from client's instructions and preferences. Cut, trim, taper, curl, wave, perm, and style hair. Apply bleach, tints, colour, and analyze hair and scalp condition to provide basic treatment or advice on beauty care treatments for scalp and hair. Also basic receptionist duties and cleaning around the salon.

I learnt a lot of things as it was my first job out of hairstyling school. My managers were nice, helpful, and patient while I was still learning. They were also my co-workers as it was a small salon. Hardest part of the job was the salary, you don't make much hourly as a hairstylist and there's really no way to make more so you work for your tips. Most enjoyable part of the job, I loved doing hair and the people I worked with were very nice.

The job itself is great. Staff is great, boss is fantastic, customers (for the most part) are also great. The job itself is good. BUT, the pay is only ever minimum wage with no room for a raise. Yes tips can be nice, but not always. And owners are so cheap they have you work alone most of your shift, in an unsafe environment. Too many crack heads and drugs and needles around the building to be left working alone with no surrounding open businesses. Everything around closes around 5, leaving the ONE fast food place open up across the street.

Owners have expressed how little they care about staff and their safety and only care about making money. This is a red seal trade job and will NEVER be paid like one. The turn over rate is high because everyone leaves for a job that pays better. 

I have worked with Magicuts for a while now, although it is close to home and i enjoy expressing my creativity everyday i am looking for a long term change as i am allergic to hair colour and will no longer be able to work in this field. The work space is a closed environment and very small which has allowed me to create many close knit relationships with my coworkers. This has allowed us for the most part to work as team and i am very grateful for that.  I am excited to find a new field that will better suit me and where i can express my creativity, create new relationships and start a new career!

working with management and coworker was never an issue since I am always open minded 
the hardest part of that job was sometimes customer would want something but could not get so they would be upset and it was a challenge to make them feel happy with want they could get

A typical day at Magicuts entails greeting and cutting, styling or chemical servicing customers hair. Keeping the salon clean. I have learned a couple of new cutting techniques. Management is good to keep us supplied with the products we need to give our customers full service. My co-workers are a great bunch of girls to work with. My hardest part of my job is dealing with children that don't like getting their hair cut. The most enjoyable part of my job is making the customer happy with the service you did for them.

Servicing customer needs

scheduling, inventory retail knowledge, 
Hours standing all day with arms above your head, and trying to please customers.
Meeting new people laughing , sharing their family milestones' and making people happy. Giving people courage to explore new possibilities.

I was the manager at Smartstyle, and I really enjoyed working there and my staff! We all really loved the customers as well.  However I wish I was given more opportunities to order more product, because we were always running low but we made the best of what we had.  I love making people happy and making them feel good by having great hair.
