A typical day at work in the Food and Beverage department would be either a breakfast and lunch service shift or a dinner service shift. It is fast paced but the collaboration and support from fellow employees makes the first few shifts easier. The best way to learn is to take initiative and jump right in, but there is support from management to ensure you are comfortable and confident in your roles and responsibilities. Magna has an "open door" policy and is always looking to adapt and improve, this is one of Magna's best qualities. If you like a challenge and enjoy the social/customer service aspect of F&B then apply!

You do NOT receive any tips during your shifts (even if you're a server). At the end of the year, club members fill out a 'gratuity form' of how much tips they wanna give the club, and then the managers will decide how much percent of that lump sum each staff will get (based on your performance and seniority). They call this your 'year end bonus'. HOWEVER, you only receive this "bonus" if you finish your 4 month contract. If you quit before the contract is over, you do NOT receive any gratuity. 

This is not fair. Even though someone does not finish their contract, they should still be entitled to the gratuity they earned for their time there.

Magna was one of my favorite jobs, everyone there is extremely friendly and welcoming. Magna is completely organized with every event and circumstance, and provides proper appropriate training for their staff. 

The management at Magna was outstanding, very professional and always was there for you if you had any concerns or issues. The management team gave you everything you needed, regarding tools, time off, specific shifts times, etc. without a single issue. 

I regret not coming back for another season! Maybe next year.

Working as a valet. Most members are nice but be ready to deal with unreasonable wealthy individuals. No tips for parking 100 plus cars sometimes. Still waiting for my full uniform after paying $190 upon being hired. Management expects a unrealistic quality of service with Limited resources. I have witnessed members being verbally abusive to fellow valets and management will never back its staff. Overall a total fail and very unorganized. A few of my team members are currently looking for new jobs.

They would consistently push their lowest minimum paid workers to edge giving them responsibilities way beyond their pay grade and getting the blame shifted on you when something goes wrong. The co-workers were nice but the stress of the job was hard especially when they barely pay their employees along with not receiving tips. The Golf Course makes lot of money yet its surprising that most of it doesn't make it to the common employee.

It’s a good job to work in the summer as a summer high school student but if you’re looking for a full-time job it’s okay. Absolutely no benefits for the full time staff and the servers who work the hardest out of all get nothing in return. The only thing I really enjoyed about working here were my co-workers but other than that the hours were inconsistent and you were  working late into the night. The managers are nice though.

Would not recommend working for Magna. Extremely sexist upper management and there is no reward for working hard. If you do everything you can and more for them for 10 shifts in a row but then one time tell them you are unable to take an extra shift (for example) they act like you never do any extra work and are treated very poorly. The sexist management alone is enough to deter anyone from applying.

Ever wonder why there's always jobs available? Because no one wants to work here. Terrible culture leading to a revolving door of servers, jr servers, beverage cart girls, even managers. Managers do not care about staff. Pay is not worth the amount of work and hours you are expected to put in (no breaks). Also if you're looking for tips go somewhere else. As a server you get one table per shift and only 10% gratuity. Pretty sure its worse for bev carts. Wouldn't recommend anyone get a job here.

Overall, my time here was short but from what I experienced from being there was fun yet very stressful at times. Management failed to give me proper training shifts (opening and closing) and left me on my own after my third shift in. I was still learning and figuring out where everything was and how certain things worked (as you can imagine how stress inducing it can be when it got super busy). Needless to say, I asked LOTS of questions and got most of them answered. 

Worst job I’ve ever had on a golf course. The supervisor divides work based on your gender and allows for limited team collaboration. Supervisor is continually leaving throughout the day to go home and has no clue who does what or what people are capable of. The entire environment is extremely lazy, nobody cares and it’s apparent when looking at the quality of the course. Would only return if there was new management.
