I've been with North Star going on 4 years now. I've seen people thrive here and I've seen people fail here. The common denominator for the people who are successful is their level of GRIT. The kind of people who would always bend down and touch the line when running a suicide, regardless of whether or not the coach was watching. The ones who don't cut a corner when doing laps around a soccer field. It's not necessarily the people who are the smartest or most vivacious who thrive here, but the people who take pride in seeing tasks through and doing things right. Mistakes are forgiven when you make them going 100 km/hr giving your all for the team. For sales specifically, you need to have an internal locus of control, meaning you believe that you control your own destiny. The weather, inventory mix, amount of customers doesn't determine your level of success, your effort level does.

The people who fail aren't necessarily bad people, but more often than not they don't have that same tenacity to strive to grow and become something better than what they were when they started here. When things get tough they quit. Not just this job but in most aspects of their lives. They are people who care about work life balance over advancing their careers. Not saying that's wrong but it's not for me and it certainly isn't for North Star. If that sounds like you, move on to the next job posting and thanks for reading this far. For the sales department, people who look at external factors as excuses for their outcomes nearly always fail. They don't take ownership of their role and blame everything, except themselves.

Before coming to North Star I heard it referred to as "North Star University" due to the level of learning management offers and opportunity for advancement the company offers. The alumni who have left North Star to start their own dealerships or automotive related businesses is astounding. There's no other dealership in North America like it. I learn new things every day and become better every day with the help of managers and coaching that upper management offers.

Ownership walks the walk. The CEO isn't the kind of guy who tells you what to do all day having never lived each role himself. He started the business from nothing and is usually answering emails back to me well before I'm even awake. I know a lot of people who have success in their life and go on autopilot into the rest of their lives. This guy is not that guy. He is hands on everyday and actively tries to play a role in you finding success within the organization as well as in your personal life. He takes tremendous joy in seeing people succeed and achieve their goals. 

Waking up for work with a smile on my face everyday knowing that I get to meet new people and work with them to find them the perfect vehicle to suit their needs in a price point that works for their budget has given me a new zest for life.
When I joined the Northstar Ford Lincoln Team in November 2019 I had absolutely zero automotive experience and was welcomed with open arms by all departments. I was completely blown away by the training program provided and was instantly impressed by the experience, knowledge and expertise shared with me daily from both my coworkers and my management team.
I never felt incompetent, insignificant or ignorant even though I didn't have any previous experience in the automotive industry. My coworkers and Team Lead did everything in their power not only to offer hands on learning and training but provided me with a safe and happy place to monitor my progress.
We started off every morning with a Sales Team Meeting not only to discuss everyone's clients but also discuss how everyone was feeling and if anyone required any assistance either professionally or personally. 
It was at this moment that I realized that I had not actually joined the Northstar Ford Lincoln Team but rather I had actually joined the Northstar Ford Lincoln Family.
Through the trials and tribulations we as a community have experienced since I have started with Northstar Ford Lincoln including both the flood and the Covid 19 Restrictions I couldn't be prouder to be part of the Gold Star Standard that was implemented collectively by our CEO and Health and Safety Team to ensure not only my safety but also the safety of our clients was top priority.
As a long term resident of Fort McMurray it is also extremely important to me that I work for and support a locally owned and operated business. 
If you are interested in being part of something great and are able and willing to learn in a fast paced energetic atmosphere where you are offered compensation based on performance, automotive experience isn't necessary and sales experience is an asset I would highly recommend joining the Northstar Ford Lincoln Sales Team.


Worked here for almost two years: management flipped on staff when the last oil downturn happened and slashed wages every way they could. Understaffed and unmotivated parts department made working as a mechanic difficult as you could wait for an hour at two in the morning because the parts employee disappeared. A few vocal mechanics could get a bay to themselves and be fed lucrative work by the ASMs while not having to flip to nights. Regularly publish reports of your hours and productivity for all to see fostering unhealthy competition between staff. One location in McMurray was state of the art but was getting run down quick and wasn't designed for full mechanical work but has now gone that direction, the other in serious need of redesign and new equipment. Building and equipment Maintenence non-existent: took five months of awareness of come backs for them to finally change a tire balancer while throwing mechanics under the bus for tires that weren't balanced properly. Turning rotors was virtually impossible as the carbide tips were always abused and the ASM never had them on hand. Shop tools finding their way into locked mechanics' boxes or their homes to do sidework and never replaced. Tools at confed location are provided but if lost, come off of your pay with no way to lock your box if you work shift work. Found my missing multi-meter in another box before they blindly charged me for a new one. Certain mechanics weren't shift positions and were able to lock their boxes. Free for all, Bullying, cut throat atmosphere, favoritism, mechanics praised for producing hours until they figure out that they do it by scamming warranty and then out the door they go. Even if you came in, kept your head down and mouth shut, if you started producing like the inner circle did, they would pick apart your work to management or come to you complaining of stealing their work.

Waking up every morning with a huge smile on my face knowing that I get to come into a workplace that I love and have the opportunity to meet new people everyday and help work with them to find the perfect vehicle to suit their needs in a price point that works for their budget has given me a new zest for life.
I feel so completely blessed to be part of the Northstar Auto Group Family. It is challenging and rewarding. It has so many moving parts and when they all work together it is magical.
I continue to grow and learn every day.

I have been with this company for over 7 years and have never worked for a better company. I have worked for other dealerships in the past and left each one due to stress and attitude from management. Northstar Ford is the first place I have worked where I don't experience that. We are a very busy shop so you need be able to work in a fast paced environment, but it is very rewarding personally and the pay can be as great as you want it to be. Are there ups and downs/good days and bad days, 100 percent there are, but show a business that doesn't. I have personally always had good experiences with management. As long as you show up, truly do the job to the best of your abilities and be a team player, management will pat you on the back and thank you. My experience has truly been a family feel and this place really does come together to support everyone even in the tough times. I have had things happen in my family over the last 7 years both good and bad and have always had an outpouring of support from both management and co workers, so it just goes to show it's not all just about business. If you truly want a rewarding career with possibilities of advancement, and you aren't afraid to work, this is the place for you.

Since starting at Northstar Ford, every day is an opportunity to learn. I have an amazing support network, great co-workers, and the right tools at my disposal to ensure success in my role. There have been multiple times where my efforts have been recognized, and feedback provided about the results of my work. Management have been great in supporting me when unsure about how to do certain things and ensuring I understand what's expected with the time needed to complete tasks. So far, the hardest part of the job has been learning the various things I didn't have exposure to while managing the unpredictability to my day-to-day as things can change quickly based on the needs of my customers, staff, and managers. However, that being said, I know I always have a safety net ready to catch me, if need be, with the outstanding support I've received so far. The most enjoyable part of my job is getting positive feedback from the owner, management, my peers, and my direct reports related to my work ethic and dedication as well as being results driven. 

In 2007 I came to work At North Star on the 3 year plan. Well, needless to say  I am. Still here!  Lol,  and loving it. Fourteen  years later and with two promotions under my belt,  I still feel valued as an employee.. NorthStar made me feel like family the moment I arrived. I was scared, alone, traveled half way across the country, didn't know anyone and was second guessing myself if I made the right decision. Well, I am pleased to say I definitely made the right decision!!  I realized that there were other employees at North Star that took the same chance as I did to better their lives financially, and also felt scared and alone.. Its not just about the excellent pay and the great opportunities , NorthStar feels like family., acts like family and cares about you like family. I have made some wonderful friends here. It is a great place to raise a family. 
If you love fishing ,hunting, riding your ATV, camping ,boating ,kayaking,  skiing, golfing and a friendly community , you will LOVE Fort McMurray.

One of the biggest strengths of working at Ford is the opportunity to learn. Whether it’s new technology, updated processes, or hands-on training, there is always something to improve your skills. Management is generally supportive, and there are clear expectations when it comes to performance. The work can be demanding at times, especially during busy production or service periods, but it teaches discipline and efficiency.

Overall, Ford is a strong workplace for those who are motivated, dependable, and looking for stability with room to grow. If you put effort into your role, the company recognizes it, and there are opportunities to advance.

Everyone was nice and friendly, helped the mechanics, phones, customers, other departments, was a nice place to work.
I learned that it was nice doing my job and helping people out and the trust you got from repeat customers that just came in to see you and say hi.
My direct manager, i have absolutely no comment on , i was told if you don't have anything nice to say about someone don't say it al all. I was in many manager meetings and honestly it was a day of getting no where, having people explain how much money we made how much we could have made and how much we have to make. To me it was finger pointing without the pointing, granted the owner made it very relaxing, i have nothing but nice things to say about the owner.
Culture was indifferent, some days it was good some not so good.
Hardest part was dealing with a manager who didn't like you and could end your time in an instant.
Most enjoyable part was seeing everyone everyday, most were nice to be around.
