I've been with Obsidian Group Inc. for two months, and my experience has been very positive.

One of the main reasons I joined the company was its focus on growth and development. I was impressed by the number of employees who have been with the organization for 10+ years, which speaks volumes about the culture. As the company continues to expand, I'm excited about the opportunities that may be available in the future.

From day one, I felt welcomed and supported. The team is collaborative, approachable, and genuinely invested in helping one another succeed. What stands out most is the culture. Many companies say they treat employees like family, but Obsidian demonstrates it through its actions. There is a strong balance between high performance and employee well-being, supported by transparent communication and empathetic leadership.

The VP, I work with directly, sets high expectations but leads by example. He treats his team as equal members, avoids micromanagement, and is always willing to provide support and guidance for those looking to grow professionally.

One area that could be improved is the training process. While support is available when needed and questions are highly encouraged, much of my learning has come through hands-on experience and adapting to new tasks as they arise. A more structured training program with dedicated learning resources and clearer onboarding milestones could help new employees build confidence more quickly and create a more consistent training experience.

Additionally, introducing a continuous learning program or educational stipend for platforms such as Coursera, Udemy, or LinkedIn Learning would be a valuable investment in employee development and would further support the company's commitment to growth.

Overall, I've enjoyed my time at Obsidian so far and look forward to continuing my career with the organization.


A typical day involves brainstorming sessions, managing team tasks, creating offline / digital campaigns, managing budgets, reporting and collaborating with various team members. It’s fast-paced, but seeing our ideas come to life, especially during new restaurant openings, makes it all worth it. I’ve gained valuable skills in strategic marketing, project management, and adaptability. The leadership is supportive and open to new ideas, which has helped me grow both professionally and personally.

The workplace culture is energetic and supportive, with a focus on work-life balance. There’s a strong sense of camaraderie, and the team is genuinely invested in each other’s success. The rapid growth can be challenging, with multiple projects and tight deadlines. However, this also keeps the work exciting and pushes you to be your best.

The most enjoyable part is being part of a team that’s making a real impact. Seeing the success of new restaurant openings and receiving positive feedback from guests is incredibly fulfilling.

What is the best part of working at the company?
I wasn’t there long, but there wasn’t a best part about working there. I guess the free food at the corporate location. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
For me, I found that I kept having to track down my management to ask them question or for feedback. 9/10 they would never respond to my email or phone call. Tell me why I would email them around 8:30am and by 4:30pm they’re be no response from them??

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Again I wasn’t there long but to me, everyone seemed to keep to themselves. It seemed like one of those places where you needed to keep your head down to avoid problems 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
By day 3, I basically had to ask what they needed me to do. Expectations weren’t clearly laid out. Often times, I only had one thing to work on and ended up sitting there because I would be waiting hours for feedback

Business is run by family that do not have a modern outlook .  All staff in office, head down work.   No flexibility to be creative and produce content outside of office walls.  Marketing director appears supportive but is not.  Always hiring and firing. Staff turnover is high , job always posted with varying salary.   

Poor management and workplace culture. Employees receive little to no training, yet are expected to meet unrealistic expectations. Communication is lacking, and new hires are given minimal support or direction. The environment feels unwelcoming, with little respect shown to employees. Overall, it was a disappointing experience and not a workplace I would recommend.

Obsidian Group is a great company to work for. It's a very fast paced environment which not only makes every day different, but gives you the opportunity to learn a lot. You get to work with a great team of people who encourage you to express your ideas and give recommendations so the best decisions can be made and a plan can be put into place together.

A very supportive and encouraging environment with the opportunity to grow within the company. It’s a fast paced environment that gives you opportunity to learn a lot and experience something new everyday. Everyone is very hardworking which does not go unnoticed by management. The team is very positive and a great overall environment!
