RA Malatest and Associates is by far the best company I've ever worked for. It's a professional yet laid back environment with awesome supervisors that make the company seem like a family. 

For context, I have worked for Malatest as a surveyor in the Ottawa Survey House for almost 2 years and I have absolutely no regrets! It's a very diverse environment with people of all ages and backgrounds, and everyone is friends! 

Despite the challenges the supervisors must've faced in the process of setting up work from home due to the pandemic, it was a very smooth transition. Judging by how in-depth the company's covid plan was, you can really tell they care. 

The environment is very fun and upbeat, whenever there's a holiday like St. Patrick's Day or Halloween, the office is always decorated! 

This company offers an insane amount of flexibility with your availability to work! You pick the hours you're available every week and they'll try to fit you in those hours! The work can sometimes be challenging however, the supervisors do their best to coach you through it, giving you tips to improve! Once you start getting the hang of the job, you'll be surprised to know the amazing incentive programs the Ottawa Survey House has! 

Malatest tends to promote from within, from what I've heard, all of the supervisors have started as a surveyor. Because of this, the supervisors understand what the work is like and they help you with it! The way we do our work is far different from any other call center, we do everything ethically and a lot of people have their security clearance. 

This workplace is great for anybody looking for a part-time job with hardworking employees, awesome supervisors, a fun environment and great advancement opportunities! You will not regret working here! 

Malatest is one of the best employers for career advancement in the world of research consulting. If you're looking for a challenge, a rewarding career path, a diverse workforce, and to really maximize your professional growth, Malatest is the place to sharpen your skills - particularly if you work here for several years. But you need to know your stuff: you should have excellent qualitative and quantitative research skills, be an excellent communicator, know the difference between academic, government and business writing (know your audience), be able to work solo but also in a team, and be prepared for high pressure work assignments followed by periods of downtime. Not everyday will be the same. You'll have insanely busy periods and not-so-busy periods. The benefits and vacation are decent. Pay is fair. You can expect work-life balance.

If you’re looking for a job that doesn’t involve a lot of stress then this is the job for you. All of the management/supervisors are over the top amazing, truly cannot say ANYTHING negative about them. Nick (head supervisor) is hands down one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet! The job itself is very knowledgeable as you work on different projects each shift and you gain knowledge from each phone call you conduct. It’s overall a great job to have either full or part time and I would highly recommend this company to anyone who’s looking for a fresh breath of air.

Working with R.A Malatest & Associates was a lot of fun. Training lasted two days and the supervisors made sure that everyone understood the goals and ideals of the company before moving on. The work environment is very inclusive - I don't know that I've ever worked anywhere with such a diverse group of people. The management and supervisors coach those who struggle and commend those doing well - a lot of feedback is given. R.A Malatest & Associates is really accommodating when it comes to scheduling as well; they understand that everyone has a life outside of work.

Malatest is an incredible employer. I've only worked here for about a couple of months but they've been incredibly welcoming. They teach you everything you need to know and provide support whenever you ask for it. The supervisors are amazing and incredibly friendly. All the supervisors I've spoken to told me they started as a surveyor, so they know what the work is like, and it's apparent. The computers are slow sometimes but the work is easy if you try. You choose your availability every week and can work from home if you can provide 25 hours a week. They're incredibly flexible with scheduling which makes it perfect for a student to balance. 

A typical day at work would go like this. I would come and sign in stating the time I came in and then meet with the team leader for any announcements, the after the team meeting would be over we would disperse to our designated seating . There I would sign in on the computer and open up the entry database system along with the call web service as well and begin calling different households.

A typical work day: check in with supervisor, check stats board, setup desk and files required, sit at computer terminal for hours till surveys are complete. Best part of the workplace culture: special holiday celebrations. What I learned most about this job is you must love a desk job.  If you enjoy sitting for extended long periods of time with very little interaction with people and lots of keyboarding, data entry and calling people, this is the job for you.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The shifts can be as long or as short as you want them to be.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Mismanaged time, not a lot of support from management and supervisors, poor communication, very little feedback.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Upstairs/downstairs mentality. The most vital employees are treated like trogs by upper management.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Less than sanitary working conditions, depressing surroundings, no support from some supervisors.

Constantly mixed up hours even though they required and email sent in for availability. More hours then asked, wrong days, ect. Constantly misgendering and using incorrect name when referring to me. 
Infantile system, where if you didn't meet numbers you had to email them a reason. You are literally calling people to ask them to so a 15-60 min survey, so a lot of the time it was simply because people didn't want to do them over the phone when they are available on time.
Only one supervisor seemed to care and be respectful of everyone.

Don't work here unless you are desperate. The pressure from higher-up the overall business is ran very bad. They don't train you properly, there is alot of favoritism, if they like you get the hours, otherwise you are SOL.
You provided your availability and they don't follow it.  Alot of broken promises they tell you  can work from home and it never happened. Supervisors  have no people skills you have problem and they don't discuss it with you, he says read your email WTFH.  They short change on hours, no benefits and horrible work in environment.
