There's a lot of work, but it's not stressful. The tasks are demanding, yet the work environment helps manage them without causing too much stress.

Colleagues at RDP are respectful, led by good leaders who are fair and transparent. The team is always striving for improvement, creating a fun and supportive workplace.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A typical day at RDP involves engaging in collaborative projects with respectful colleagues, guided by effective and transparent leadership. The work environment is both enjoyable and focused on continuous improvement.

I really enjoyed the five years I worked at RDC. The wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm of the instructors created an invaluable learning experience which motivated me to strive for excellence.

The hardest part of the job was putting the time in after hours to prepare and refine my lessons to meet the needs of students who are accustomed to change. This meant keeping the delivery method and style always fresh. This, of course, was an investment in the students' and my own learning experience which paid off at the end of their program. The elation we felt due to their success was the best part of the job.

Anyone contemplating an instructor position must consider that Red Deer College is a very competitive institution in that it does its utmost to attract students and that translates to the quality of instruction and delivery of the programs it offers. In other words, students and instructors alike should be prepared to give their all when they enter RDC's classrooms and labs.

In this position I was responsible for many aspects of 3 different departments within the Community Relations department as well as the College Finance department.  I was responsible for all Canada Revenue Agency requirements being met on all of our donations from all types of donors.  I would draft donor agreements, receive donations in all forms (cash/bonds/stocks/gift-in-kind etc.)  Receipting our donors was one of my major responsibilities. I also met with co-workers about our campaign and created financial reports. 

The experience with co-workers was like being one big family, everyone worked as a team and were always open to new ideas.

I can't pin point just one part of my job as the most enjoyable because it was all so enjoyable.  Very thankful to have worked with such an amazing organization.

On Red Deer College if students left when they had done there school year in spring,i was getting a crew for doing spring cleanings and turn the units into little hotel rooms for the summer.My crew of 12 to 15 people provide in summer towels,soap,toilet paper ect to those houses and when it was August we turn the houses back for the students who were coming back for the next year of school.

My crew was spanish speaking people so it was a challenge to work with them there i only speaking dutch and english,but we had mostly fun and they did do a good job because my assistant was speaking a bit of english.

The most enjoyable time was the summer time because in the winter i worked all by myself without any assistant or crew member.

Looking back, it has been a fruitful and enjoyable experience teachinrg a range of first and second year geography courses, which also included Geomatics, GIS in particular.
The work environment in the Science Department and the morale among co-workers was excellent, despite having to manage with limited funding for programs overall.
I never really felt any pressure on the job, so when we mean hardest part, I can think only of the prep work needed for lectures and labs, and also, of course marking exams!

My work as an instructor was most enjoyable simply because I knew I was not only imparting knowledge on students but also helping them along in their learning endeavours, preparing them to meet the challenges of the outside world.

Pros

- This will be a lax job relative to pretty much anywhere else you could work.
- Pretty ok benefits.
- Good time off.

Cons

- There's an in-crowd of RDP cheerleaders who have been working there for many years. They do not welcome outside perspectives.
- RDP has the highest workload and lowest pay of any post-secondary in Alberta.
- The curriculum in their programs is so out of date, I don't know how they can take themselves seriously. 
- Most of the middle management is toxic and incompetent.
- The highly inward-looking culture will absolutely kill your career if you're trying to be more than just an instructor of a few classes.
- Working here will hamstring your chances of getting a job somewhere else.

My role worked alongside student life and the student association in assisting with planning, organizing, promotion and implementation of campus recreation for student and staff of Red Deer College. Programmers encourage students to find a balance between academic pursuits and recreation/ life outside the classroom and support the departments goal of improving students and staff retention by offering social, recreational, educational, cultural and wellness-based programs.

While working the student association was good because I would be working the college students, on improving the college to make it a better place to be at. would've been nice to work with them longer but with being a college student while working with this was hard to balance out, but eventually it got easier to deal with. The enjoyable part of the job was running the events for the students, getting the feedback from the students as well to improve in the near future.

A typical day at work for me was helping with the cooking with the cook. What i learned is how to cook for so many kids. Management whether it is a business, not-for profit organization, government. Workplace culture is a company mission, value, ethics expectations and goals.The hardest part of my job was to have a relationship with with everyone. The most enjoyable part of my my job was just to learn how cook and be with the kids.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Endless bureaucracy, layoffs and restructuring. Senior leadership (also a rotating door) is also often ineffectual and out of touch.
