Working at Ricoh has been an interesting but yet stressful time. I noticed you need to have exceptional organisational skills in order to not get behind on work. Workload can be very stressful. Working in the mailroom is hectic. No time for breaks. You do get 30 min lunch but even then when you come back to your work, it puts your behind even more. Mailroom function is not designed for one person. The responsibility you have and the rate of pay you get is not worth it. Management is not so bad here. They do micro manage at times, but overall it is not too bad. Co-workers are great. Willing to help you out when you are behind on things. Minimum wage job with no progression. In lack of better words, a sweat shop.

My trainer was terrific at training me. Helped me understand how to handle difficult situations concerning mailing out checks and matching documents properly and efficiently. Was very thorough in the dedication of sending mail out correctly.

As far as raises goes. You will be lucky enough to get a 10 cent raise.

Stressful part of the job is trying to locate a specific check when you deal with hundreds of checks a day. Trying to remember how it was sent or what carrier it was sent by is a struggle. That is why organisational is key!

I noticed management is constantly on you for getting things done at the end of the month and submitting records of counts. Its difficult to do all of that when you are busy trying to process documents. You constantly have to go from one task to another.

my final say is that working at Ricoh is not worth it in the end. It will not benefit you at all by doing all those tasks for minimum wage.

This job involved a lot of driving, and I mean a lot. I was put in charge of a 700KM service area in Northern BC. This covered Houston, BC, all the way to Telegraph Creek, BC.

RICOH provides very good training for all employees, and will assist you if you find concepts and terminology hard to understand. There is a lot of theory behind their training, and not so much with hands-on learning. After being in the PC industry for many years, I had no issues going from business to business repairing various models of RICOH MFP's.

There were a few pitfalls with this company. Being pulled out of my service area on a constant basis to assist technicians that were falling behind in service calls. This was either due to lack of preventative maintenance, or the area was too big to handle for one technician. The quality of MFP's demised over the years, which lead to more service calls for the newer models. RICOH was aware of various design defects, and would fix them at their leisure.

Another pitfall was the lack of compensation for the wear and tear on a vehicle. The amount did not cover oil changes, flat repairs, new tires, and interior cleaning due to toner accidents. Had the compensation be better, I would have continued with this company. If you have a small vehicle, and are working in a big city, this isn't so much an issue.

Like any Fortune-500 company, you have to decide if being treated like a number and a source of corporate income is something you can live with.

In the beginning, you'll be constantly travelling for training purposes. if Ricoh could cut costs and attempt to cross-train every single technician on all hardware types, they would.

Yes, you are a revenue stream for the company. You'll usually end up as the the key ingredient for a salesperson.

Cost-cutting is Ricoh's biggest accomplishment. Each time a new model comes out, you find more metallic parts being replaced with plastic parts. You'll spend more time tending to service calls on newer equipment versus the older equipment.

If you get stuck in a service area that still has older IKON Canon copiers, expect to deal with a lot of frustration. There are no training courses for this equipment, and as older technicians retire, it becomes increasingly difficult to repair these machines. Management has no response to this other then to say "Suck it up, buttercup."

So yes, if you want to gain experience in this industry, look at Canon instead.

Basically a 9-5 (Monday to Friday).  Daily required numbers (service level agreement) are high and at times unrealistic.  High-turnover rate due to low wage and possibly other factors.  I expected a min. 4% annual raise (performance + cost of living) as seen with a previous employer after 2011 and here I got an unsatisfactory 1.2% raise after more than 12 months combined (as agency temp and then hired on full-time with them) --- red flag.  Those who have worked 7+ years here conveyed to me that they are dissatisfied with the compensation/future outlook.  Paid time off (paid sick days + vacation days) is probably the best part of this job plus the option to work from home (telecommute).  No 4% vacation pay is added to the regular pay.  No annual bonus not even $ 500 net.  Even as an agency temp this is not a minimum wage line of work considering you have to learn various new software, do accurate data-entry and do it fast (service level agreement - required numbers per hour) plus other tasks that may be assigned. 
 This company is a contractor working on the site of their client (insurance company in Cambridge, ON) which can make you feel like or be treated like a 2nd class citizen.  Get the experience here, don't stay long and then leave for a better job.

definitely an interesting job if you like taking things apart and figuring out how things work. it definitely takes a while to get the swing of things. on the ground level with other technicians and that level of management has been a positive. the team members have all been very helpful in terms of training and ongoing troubleshooting. Never the same problems to solve/fix, every day could be different. Fairly decent benefits after probation though submitting claims can be a bit needlessly complicated.

with that said, newer associate technicians are not properly compensated for whats tasked of them. Sure, there's the opportunity of overtime for extra on your cheque on a relatively frequent basis, but the cost of living isn't cheap, even if you already live modestly. And working 40 hours a week should provide enough finances to live, not just survive. Companies need to invest directly in relieving the stress from their employees that a massage won't fix. Their workforce is aging/retiring and they need to pay their new employees fairly or they'll be in a tight spot when all the retirees leave

As a new hire you are promised all these wonderful things like job advancement and training which occur within the first few months/years but after that the company no longer values what you do and they begin the cycle again with new hires as eventually you're deemed to be too expensive so they hire someone at 2/3 of the salary and train them up. 
Your contribution to the company is a drag on the bottom line after a few years and minimal raises.
Management parades around the same old message year after year when it comes to raises, that they're only given so much of a % to divide amongst the team so even if you're a top performer and are told as much, you'll perhaps receive half a percent more as your colleagues even when you're told you're doing a great job.
That doesn't provide much motivation year in year out to keep providing outstanding customer service when you only can get a hair more than those that don't.
I wouldn't recommend this job as Ricoh only gives what the market "dictates" and not on an individual basis to those that provide real value to not only company but to every one of the valuable customers Ricoh has

Working for Ricoh is fun and challenging. In a typical day of work, i'll check my emails, make sure every printer is full of paper, distributes the insurance documents to whom it may concern, manage the cheques comming in as well as the mail and messenger service and help a lot with the bonding and administrative tasks. With Ricoh i've learned many administrative skills, I now manage my own site so I am the one in charge of the client satisfaction with the service that we offer. I work alone, I am the only employee of Ricoh Canada here, but all my cowokers from Integro are nice and frienfly, we work in harmony and they know they can rely on me if hey have a technical problem or if they need a special order. The hardest part of my job is to manage my time and priorities, sometimes at the bonding (I help with that too) they have many documents to send and I am already doing somthing or I am busy getting all the cheques logged in, but it is challenging and i really do appreciate that. The most enjoyable part of my jobn is that I always have someting to do, so the day passes by quickly and I always learn something new.

I wouldn't recommend Ricoh to anyone that is looking at expanding to higher roles in their career. The compensation is comical especially if you live in a major city. You are not being paid for the 1 hour lunch; meaning if you work from 9-5, your shift isn't finished until 6.

Managers are not managers. They are sales people that only care about the site contracts. Micromanaging seems to be the thing at Ricoh. You are always being reminded to be a "yes man" to keep your job secured and the clients happy.

Training is non existent from higher ups. You are thrown into a pool with sharks and expected to do everything correctly. New employees are trained by other employees

TIP: If you are a current employee with Ricoh, ask your site manager for a raise. Show him/her what you need to make in order to get by in your city. Bet they won't even come close to what you are seeking nor would they try to put in the effort

Another TIP: Managers get a bonus every month depending on work load employees push out. YES, the very same manager that you report to, gets a bonus for all the hard work you do. Let that sink in.

Overall: Not worth it

It's great to work at a company that firmly believes in making money by maximizing value for the customer. What's even better is that Ricoh's value is helping people find work, and the customer is every job seeker in the entire world. I feel that our work helps people.

Ricoh moves fast but doesn't fall prey to the latest fads. Decisions are made based on data and actual business impact, not ego or hype. If you're looking for a company that adopts technologies and strategies just because they're the new hotness, look elsewhere.

Ricoh does more with less. Simplicity and focus drive the business. It shows in Ricoh's growth strategy (no huge investments or splashy product launches) and product philosophy (be simple and effective while staying out of the user's way).

All my colleagues are very self-motivated. You never see any mass exodus at 5:00PM. People come to work when they want and leave when they want, and upper-management doesn't care. Everyone knows what is necessary to get things done.

I can't imagine a better place to work as long as you are more interested in meaningful, challenging, exciting work than pure compensation.

You repair to a high standard, average 6-7 calls a day, driving in a company car, looking after your territory. 
Management backup is excellent, you can rely on your team leaders for help with exceptional problems
And parts ordered usually arrived promptly. Most calls could be closed the same day.
It's kind of a niche field this type of service, there is a lot to learn, and you must have very good fault finding knowledge. 
Very good training is provided by their own schools. 
Also, more especially you must have a very good customer relationship with personality and development.
They make and service Ricoh equipment only (at the time) which is a great quality product and surpasses many other companies.
I have worked in service for over 40 years, and this company was one of the best I have had the pleasure to work for.
Reason for leaving:
I left the company to go to British Columbia to be close to my son after a family loss.
