Trust me when I say this is not a good company. The management/owners do not know how to manage their staff or the companies they work with. A lot of problems, misunderstanding, and they do not like disabled people. You must stand for 7 hours, plus hauling stuff in and out of the store you are demoing at, this is each day, put up and take down. I guess it has to do with liability regarding their cheaply made table. When you ask for assistance you get bypassed until the something happens and then they blame their workers. That is disgusting and unreasonable. Old style method of sending reports and receiving payment. It takes a longtime to receive your cheque via mail also. It is the worst company I have ever worked for. The management is so rude and unpleasantly condescending to their workers. They will totally ignore you if there is a problem, they won't give you heads up as to what is happening week to week. These people are fake and disappointing. Their supervisor is the worst! You get told all the stuff you receive is free, yet there is a five dollar charge each time on your cheque, which is not listed on your T4. They never give many hours, it is basically a tease. So, you are lucky to work even part time. It is a casual job and short term notice.

This job has a lot of downsides with very few benefits if any at all. You are required to purchase all of your materials with your own money and will only be reimbursed when tax season comes around if you remember to keep your receipts. You also have to do at least an hour of unpaid work every single shift. The deadlines are atrocious at times and they don't give you all the information that you need for every demo. In fact quite frequently, I wouldn't receive my demo materials at all but would then receive an email few days later with them complaining that I didn't do the demo for which I didn't receive any of the information for.  And they charge you a fee of $75 for not completing a demo. That is nearly what you will get paid for the demo.  It's a scam. I don't recommend working for this company their communication skills are atrocious.

I agree what "Beware" said at below however I quit right away for first hour job shadowing

1.) Won't pay for training

2.) you have go pick up your pay chq, they won't mail or direct deposit

3.) buy your own supply from your own wallet

4.) you must attend 2 times orientation before start working (no pay, plus travel and is long way drive from home)  just watching video over there, instead upload it online they let you watch from home.  

5.) count inventory before start. ( That should be in there store system)

6.) should be $16 to 18 per hour not $14

Most demo company will use express service mail material to your home or have it delivery at your working location,pay for supply, and demo table already there, so don't need leave it in your vehicle all time.  Also able review your scheduled on website, submit hour.  

Very disappointed having this kind employer in Alberta

This company is a false advertiser. They say the job pays $14 per hour yet you are FORCED to pay $75 deposit for the table and supplies they give you which YOU have to bring to every shift. They also do not trust their employees and are always checking up on them! The pay is definitely not worth the hassle as you always have to drive to their office at least once in a week in South Calgary to pick up your materials. The way they run things is also very old fashioned and disorganized, paper work and manual cheques are so outdated. This company needs new management and employees, because it is horrible and the pay is not worth it. If you are looking for a job as a demonstrator I suggest you stay far away from Sara.
Oh and also, you are not an employee for them so they do not owe you any shifts or deductions, and you are responsible for buying most of the demo supplies yourself! Horror.

Great and cheerful scheduling and support staff! Paid setup and takedown time and shifts are long enough to be worthwhile showing up for. This may not be the routine by others in this industry. 

Can choose times that work for you - a big plus

However, their pay method is antiquated. Very delayed timing. Payment is by mailed-out check and may take up to a month to receive. If there is a postal strike . . . . .you are screwed.  Other Brand Ambassador companies - I contract for 2 others - pay within a week by direct deposit. This really should be a no-brainer in this day and age.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Very flexible schedule. Shorter shift but you are paid $21 per hour. Self-employeed so you CAN write off expenses!

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Being able to engage with a wide variety of clientele at different locations throughout the city

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very structured but relaxed. Diverse group of individuals throughout the company that provide great support. Always a number to call if any issues arise, owners are very supportive of their Ambassadors & provide you with the tools you need to be successful at your job.

Basically you had to buy most the stuff for demo and they will not refund or reimburse you.  Basically an ice cream scoop , a fork or knife to table cloth.  Even sometimes i had to pay for my own ice bowl for cold drinks and will mot reimburse it
You must have a car or your life carrying a table and sampling gear will be difficult 
For the low wage you cant afford a car. 
Lower pay than some sampling places i worked for 
They had me train a new replacement for sampling without paying me extra
Unpredictable shifts



It gets worse the higher up you go. You have to pay a deposit for the hippy dippy table and company frying pan. You chase around to various grocery stores for material and info then chase around to submit paperwork after a demo...you buy your own materials for the actual demo and get a percentage of the coat back as a tax writeoff but not dollar for dollar. Uniform makes you look like a confused monk with the jewish man beanie and smocky blazer. Local management does not back you when the mystery shopper crucifies you. Run forest run. Far away from Sara Simon Says Simply Sampling.

I was able to work my days with reasonable hours at locations easily accessible to me. I worked alone sampling new products and would report back to managment. The most challenging aspect of the job was being able to learn thouroughly about the product prior to my shift. Although, I had a great time learning new things and being able to converse with potential customers. I enjoyed that the job allowed me to interact with people keeping me on my toes with questions and concerns they had.

Would give this company 0 stars but that wasn’t allowed ... had to give them something. Other reviewers  poor reviews very accurate .  Not paid for training or set up time. Assigned to different stores allover the city should be hired for specific quadrant of city not asked to drive everywhere without adequate monetary compensation. Management is rude, inflexible & unorganized. Terrible
