Shnier is a company that does not have job advancement opportunities unless you are best friends with upper management. 

Managers and team leads openly insult,  belittle, laugh at and make fun of employees.  You are not treated as a adult but instead as a child at daycare that needs to be micro manged ever minute of everyday.

The company is also understaffed and the employees overworked.  Favoritism runs rampant and if you kiss up to your manager that is also another way you are able to get a preferred shift times or vacation. Only 2 people are able to be off on vacation at a time unless the manger is your bestie then you get preferred picked.

People are promoted to a mangers position who have no training and do not know how to speak to employees with out insulting and belittling you and is a bully. 

You receive feedback from the company once a year at your yearly review.  There are no monthly/quartly call reviews. Everyone is typically given a low grade and there is no feedback on how you may improve your scores. No team huddles or updates on sales until customers call asking for special pricing. 

Everything seems to be a big secret at Shnier and only those at the very top are aware what is going on. You also get in trouble for doing your job as per the way you are trained. No Leadership skills or direct answer to a question.  Company is also not accommodating if you have a family.


The best part is Human Resources is aware of the issues and if you voice your opinion or bring any inappropriate behavior that is breaking Labor Board rules to Human Resources attention your reward is to be let fired.


DEFINITELY would not recommend my best friend or worst enemy to work for Shnier, Gesco LP

This started off as a great job , working with great people , flexible hours and good benefits. Recently they overhauled the H/R systems with safety and inclusion training . A lot of training and signing off on NEW rules. Now if you question a process or forget a tool guard or don’t wear your uniform right, or even argue with a co-worker, it will be recorded as such and it will be kept secret until they decide they no longer want to employ you when they will use it as cause.
The safety inspections are over the top. The safety inspector has a mall cop attitude that everyone is incompetent, just ask him .  It doesn’t matter if you are the G.O.A.T.  employee of the year with glowing reviews and praise, if you - being a human - make a mistake it will be used against you. Seen many great people let go cause they didn’t fit the new vision of H/R - not human relation - is actually short for HIRING / FIRING. WATCH YOU BACK :)

Having worked here for more than 10 years, and having worked in much larger corporations, it is still today a breath of fresh air and I look forward to coming into work everyday.

Everyday has its different challenges, but at the same time its rewards. Management thanks you for a job well done, and they are quick to share the wins and accolades.They also recognize employees regularly through a recognition program for their contributions to the company.

Shnier is proud of their family culture, and do their best at keeping everyone in the loop through corporate updates and monthly newsletters. They also have events through the year aimed at building up the culture through BBQ's and contests.

Wages are good with great benefits, and this provides a great balance for the amount of work put in. Flexible hours also allows you to have a great work life balance.

Working at Shnier has gained me extensive knowledge over the last 10+ years of my career. Executive Leadership is extremely supportive of advancement in your career as long as you show the drive to want to grow. You can make your career stay at Shnier anything you want it to be and get exposure to so many different departments and learn alot. It's a shame a lot of disgruntled employees who didn't make the most of their time at the company have written bad reviews as it is not a true reflection of Shnier by its employees or by its great customer base. Employees are recognized constantly when great things are accomplished and there is great flexibility at Shnier.  Shnier is a very caring company that recognizes people's personal trials and tribulations of life and goes out of there way to assist people when possible.

Shnier is a great company to work for and one that is seen as a leader in the flooring field.  This is a company where you can truly have opportunities for advancement if you so choose and if you demonstrate that you want to further your career.

Upper management shows a lot of compassion and care when employees go through tough times personally, which happened to several people in the last few years.  This is truly indicative of the type of environment and culture in this company, where caring for our own is of the utmost importance.

Shnier is always at the forefront of new product development, as well as finding new and innovative ways to position the company in the digital and social media worlds. 

Good compensation and great benefits make this a really great place to work.

The management have all been in their rolls for almost a decade. They have no formal training in how to actually manage people.

The job itself is fine. The management will make you leave. They will consistently beat you up about the one mistake you made a year ago.

Also, favouritism and bullying happens here. No one seems to care when you speak to someone about it. I can't remember how many times I've cried in the bathroom because if how the other agents/team lead treated me.

It is hard to put into words all the positive thoughts I have towards this company but it is fair to just say, GREAT benefits (only company I know that has a pension plan for its employees), GOOD compensation, GREAT flexibility, DYNAMIC work culture and the people are AMAZING to work with.  LEADERSHIP is essential in any work place and here they are professionally run but with a family culture.  I have seen many times where employees have been assisted financially and in other ways by the leadership of this company and I have not seen that in any other organization.  GREAT PLACE TO GO TO EVERYDAY

the culture could definitely use improvement and HR & Management is aware of this but choose to ignore the fact. Payscale is not to industry standards...favoritism definitely exists here. Management lack leadership skills and need to be trained on how to communicate with their staff. My department seemed to be run more by HR than it did from our own management team. Felt like there was no point in having your voice heard because it was always shot down. The relationship between the management team is way too close and should be re-evaluated.. very unprofessional team.

What is the best part of working at the company?
This was the worst place inhave ever worked. I have never been so mistreated by an employer 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Misconduct and lack of safety standards.......other employee is an unsafe employee and drove the forklift under the influence 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It is very poor and unhealthy

Had to go on sick leave do to safety

Human resources does not address harassment and bullying complaints, especially if the bully is management. They will get rid of you before they address dirty management behaviour. The benefits are  garbage. Management is petty which makes going to work depressing. If your looking to make temporary cash go ahead and work here but do not stay. There is no room for growth at this place
