A typical day at work starts at the check in where you are given specifics of the particular days events and what is expected of you.  I go into my area and check to make sure each booth is ready. I work with each booth leader to make sure they have everything they need and that the inventory levels are correct. During the event I am available to the booths to help fix any problems that may arise, and order anything they need during business. At the end of the event I make sure that all booths are clean and locked up.  I work with the check out team to make sure all inventory counts are correct at the end of the night.
Management are very organized and clear about what they expect of employees. Schedules are done well enough in advance so you know when you are working.  Most of my coworkers are great and they all know how to do their job.  The hardest part of the job is to try and motivate a few number of the staff that are not able to be motivated.  The most enjoyable part of the job is that you are in the action.  You are involved with some major social events in the City and the atmosphere is always upbeat.

Other people were getting over 60 hours a week. I was begging to get more than 3 days, I ended up quitting to work another job so I could pay my bills. They came in and too over our kitchen at the local Sports arena, I was 40 hours a week before they came in, after they came in I was less than 20, they've ruined the kitchen's reputation for quality and quantity buffets, more often than not they will run out of food during an event, and then blame the staff, who were just following  the managers directions, while the manager washes his hands of any wrongdoings. They also changed the quality of the meat we served and attempted to introduce a new fancy menu even after being told the people in this area want roast beef on a bun, not some fancy thing that takes up 1/4 of the plate and doesn't fill you up. This company is going to sink the kitchen they took over in my city.

I worked for Centreplate for 2 hockey seasons. I only worked Jets Games. The first season I was there was really enjoyable. You bring food to people in their seats and get decent tips after each game. It was a fun and chill job. The second season I was there was after Bell bought MTS. Everything changed. the job got super strict and had a lot of new rules and management in place. It took the fun out of the job and lots of people quit after. I didn't last half of that season, it was awful.

All in all, the job is pretty simple once you're familiar with your seat sections. (Drunk) customers can be annoying but you get to attend each Jets game for free basically and can easily get free food (in a sneaky sense).

Throughout my time there, I believe I learned valuable skills such as time management, teamwork, and adaptability, while also gaining deeper insight into how the organization and industry operate. Management was generally supportive and approachable, offering guidance and feedback when needed, though like any workplace there were areas where communication and recognition could improve. The workplace culture fostered collaboration and a sense of shared purpose, with colleagues who were both hardworking and willing to help each other.

I am deeply disappointed by the lack of effective leadership and support at [Company/Organization Name]. The leadership team lacks clear vision and direction, resulting in confusion and inconsistent decision-making. Communication is poor, with critical information often withheld or delivered too late. Employees face micromanagement instead of empowerment, and there's a significant gap in training and development opportunities. Constructive feedback is rare, and efforts go unrecognized, leading to low morale. Issues and concerns are frequently ignored by unresponsive management, creating a frustrating and demoralizing work environment. Significant changes are needed to improve the situation.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
They are controlled by an overshadowing body and bend to the will of said governing body. The lack of communication, confusion during events, Point of Sale failures, management of tips, and the application used for scheduling were all stressful. Also, lack of staff parking.

theres so much potential to make working for centerplate a great experience, but if the long standing managers continue to just screw up everything they do as they have been for 10 years, then nothing will ever change. there have been some great people to work with over the years, but there have been more useless, unmotivated, incompetent ones. management doesnt care about the employee, doesnt take constructive criticism well, and doesnt think anything through in the way of new products and booth layout. training of new staff is very poor, burden is pushed onto existing staff to train new people.

This place is for those who are on the dole and can't find work elsewhere. Ex Cons, Mentally challenged, the worst get jobs here. Some work hard...others hardly work. Rude co-workers, managers, supervisors who are rude and disrespectful. You are lucky to get lunch and they don't give breaks AT ALL. Can't get transferred around to other venues inside the stadium. And NO ONE likes cleaning the stand at the end of the night.
Oh, and you can ONLY eat a hot dog or soda even though they toss out 3/4 of the food every night. horrible waste here!

Team members are close.  Supervisors are aimmediately available .
