The owner lashes out at employees for things other employees have done. He has seasoned employees train you for the job, then scolds you for doing the job the way you were trained.
The techs run the place. Some of them just decide not to go to jobs because they don’t want to and the customers and the business both suffer. The owner does not make the techs do their jobs and the customer service associates have to lie to customers about why the tech did not complete the job on the specified day.
The wants of wealthy customers are the only priority, even at the expense of the integrity of the company.
Though the wage is decent it is not reflective of the cost of living in the area, and there are no benefit programs and vacation time is paid on every paycheck.
During the busy season, customer service reps are not permitted to take their breaks and are only allowed to eat in between calls.
The owner is not family oriented when it comes to his office staff.

Management from Kingston plays favorites, would not give me the training I needed or I asked for. I was told when hired there would be room for advancement  and would be lots of hours. After the busy times which last about a month or so in spring and fall your lucky to have any work at all. I was there 2 years approximately and was told I would be fully trained in about a year, this never happened, in fact it's like they were holding me back, even though I was more than capable to do certain jobs or task I would be told No.  Lots of broken promises and lack of communication between management and owner, left me no choice but to find other work, can't support a family on 20h and that was a struggle just to get that .

Getting underpaid because of political and religious beliefs

When the management staff threaten and insult you

Oldheads rule it all, it's a glass ceiling.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Morning prep of the yard and equipment,  multiple deliveries and drop offs, return to the shop and lock up, usually 12 ~ 16 hour shifts

Working outside and driving around.

Hard work for little pay. Unorganised

Most the people I met there were nice. Some days were long. Paid  little money.

Worked with different people doing different jobs. From fixing hot tubs to building pool tables

St. Lawrence Pools is a great company to work at with great staff and management. Great work environment with opportunities to grow within the company. There are many opportunities to learn and expand your knowledge with great training and constant support from management and co workers.

Overall I would recommend working at St. Lawrence Pools. 


Work life balance is a real concern, they want you to enjoy the job as well as have a great social life. Advancement is always a possibility when you work for it, the culture has a professional but fun vibe. Selling all sorts of fun things like BBQ, hot tub, pools, darts and more

In the construction department, where I worked, you start early (6:30 AM) and work hard, long hours, but I found it very rewarding. Working on and seeing a pool come to completion is really satisfying, and the crew I was with was full of great people to make the days go by quicker. 

St. Lawrence pools is a business, it's number one goal is to make money therefore management is very harsh and very few breaks are supplied. The manager has made hurtful comments to employees and lashes out at the drop of a hat.

It was amazing to work there, great staff, and great manager, always something to do there, if you're a tech like I was, you're always traveling from job site to job site, moving things, or fixing something, my overall experience was great 

I liked working there, could have had better work partners, but overall the staff was good. The company sometimes made demands that seemed a little too unnecessary
