A typical day at work was often stressful and disorganized, with unclear expectations, poor communication, and constant changes in priorities. Employees were expected to manage unrealistic workloads with limited support.

While I learned how to work under pressure, adapt quickly to changing situations, and become more resilient, most of the learning came from self-initiative rather than structured training or guidance.

Management lacked transparency and consistency. Employee concerns were often overlooked, feedback was rarely acted upon, and decision-making frequently created confusion rather than direction.

The workplace culture was one of the biggest challenges. There was limited appreciation for employees, low morale, favoritism, and a lack of collaboration and respect among teams. This created a negative work environment that affected motivation and productivity.

The hardest part of the job was dealing with the toxic culture, poor management practices, and the constant feeling of being undervalued despite putting in significant effort.

The most enjoyable part of the job was working with a few supportive colleagues who helped make difficult days more manageable and provided a sense of teamwork despite the overall environment.

The warehouse manager (brandy) is the worst person I have ever met in this company most toxic person. 

Managers are patient and understanding. I have learned a lot about the processes when dealing with different types of businesses. Learned more about strategy of "the sell". My typical day is manageable. I prioritize cases out and when other things are set aside, management understands. I feel everyone is on the same page for the most part. The hardest part of the job for me is not yet understanding all of the workplace terminology and/or when something pertains to my position or not. That will come with time. I enjoy seeing new places and socializing with the public/stores. The flexibility I feel I have is great when seeking out new opportunities. This too helps with work-life balance.

The biggest concern of mine is the Budgets created for us. I would like to have a better grasp of how they are determined. If they are created based on months of the previous year and meeting/exceeding that budget will drive those higher. If someone shoots for the stars so to speak, they could be setting themselves up for failure for the next year in terms of meeting those budgets. Ideally, If the performance of a person and their ability to exceed budget sales was evaluated and compensated into a salary adjustment in the following year, that would help ensure that they are fairly compensated for their efforts.

I'm impressed with the company values. I come from a background where this was missing from my most recent employers. It's great to work with ethics again. TOL doesn't compromise on integrity, even when it could benefit individuals. We all rise together or not at all.
The shifts aren't very flexible but you know that before you apply. And they're very clear on working conditions, expected tasks and targets. There are no surprises. 
The pay is more than fair for what I do. Really, the only thing I can complain about is the commute. If it was closer to home, that would be a bonus. But I'm happy to make the drive to work here. 
There's so much training! And support for staff. The benefits are unusually good. And for such a large group, almost no drama. Everyone works hard and is skilled at what they do. 
The company is growing quickly, and there are opportunities for people to take on new responsibility and grow professionally.

Tree of Life is food distribution company importing goods for all over the globe. Their are one of the top distribution companies in the Canada market today supplying Metro, Sobeys, Loblaws and many other retail stores. 

My work at Tree gave me much opportunity to learn and grow. The senior management continues to work hard to make it a great place to work. In today's tough economy companies like Tree of Like are being pressured by the big retailers to reduce price and margin. The hardest part of the job is trying to always have the right amount of inventory. 

The most enjoyable part of working at Tree was the people...I made so many good friends at Tree and built so many close relationships with people..it is a great place to work!!

Better than most places. Still have to deal with some incompetent people that made their way to supervisor - manager - director roles, but things are going into the right direction. Pay is mostly under the market level, at least for the people that have been in the company for a few years. New hires are usually paid better than current employees, which creates frustrations. But there are some good perks. The social committee is fun, they organize parties and picnics and raffles and icecream days. You can opt into a different work schedule that gets you every second Friday or Monday off, you can buy products at almost landed cost, you meet fun people and learn a lot (if you want to).

Tree Of Life Canada is a great place to work and the company values truly resonate with me. It's one of the reasons I accepted the position many years ago. I have the pleasure of working with a plethora of products and brands. And equally, I enjoy working with a great group of collaborative people every day. During these unprecedented times, the company has shown a great respect for it's employees and specific to the safety measures that were put in place. I am blessed to be part of such a caring organization. I really look forward to working here for many more years to come. Thank you to Tree Of Life Canada!

A bullying environment with a complete and utter lack of fairness. Most work is downloaded onto junior staff while others gossip in offices. You will arrive early and stay late to maintain the workload. Very much a dog eat dog environment. Unless you are part of the "in" group you will not be rewarded appropriately. Profit share was an absolute joke. Prepare to be worked very hard while others work on an elusive file & sit in offices laughing and joking. Antiquated IT systems due to lack of focus and budget put into this area. 

As an office employee, I can describe the office culture as genuine, authentic, passionate and supportive.  Work/Life balance is great with a compressed work schedule and every other Friday off.  The best parts of the job are: the opportunity to wear many hats, learn anything I am interested in and have the opportunity to own my work.  The hardest part of the job is change management as there are many long tenured employees in the business.

After 20 years with this company I still feel great about going to work every day.  I started at the bottom and was able to work my way up to management simply by being good at what I had to do, and showing an interest in learning more.  It likes to appreciate the employees and will actively support the learning for people interested in improving themselves and moving up.  Definitely was a good choice to take a job here and I still have no regrets.

Learning about the food distribution business and how different retail customers work. Learning new systems.
Culture is good and inviting with very nice and helpful co-workers.
Management is very good, helpful, gracious and encouraging.
Sometimes stressful workload.
