Full job description

Job Summary

Receives and processes library materials for distribution to member libraries. Provides support to the Collection Services, Direct Services, and Shipping and Receiving Departments.

Duties

Adds library material to existing Integrated Library System (ILS) records or templates meeting standards of speed and accuracy and reroutes material requiring cataloguing workflow.
Ensures that library materials including special collections and non-traditional library materials are properly processed and identified for distribution to member libraries and book deposits.
Processes and tracks material reassignments and donations.
Completes the receiving function in the ILS for library material; verifies fund coding in the ILS and on invoices.
Receives vendor shipments of library material and matches invoices with materials; informs Acquisitions of errors or omissions.
Provides support to Direct Services during peak times or staff absences including unpacking and sorting ILL (inter library loan) materials, preparing materials for Library Lending Lockers, assisting with provincial library loan software, issuing library cards to patrons, and organizing and shipping materials for mail-only patrons.
Provides support to Shipping and Receiving during peak times or staff absences, including sorting and packing/unpacking deliveries, loading/unloading vans, and recycling.
Occasional driving to member libraries and errands within Strathmore may be required.
Completes project work and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Grade 12 diploma or post-secondary diploma or certificate, and one year of office administration and/or library experience.
A valid Class 5 Alberta driver’s license and a three-year driver’s abstract in compliance with Marigold HR Policy 2.4.1 Use of Marigold Property & Vehicles.
A Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check that are satisfactory to Marigold in compliance with Marigold HR Policy 2.2.5 Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Checks.
Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) and other software applications.
Excellent customer service skills.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Excellent attention to detail.
Ability to work collaboratively with others.
Ability to work independently.

Working Conditions

Extended periods of time sitting at and using a computer.
Extended periods of time executing repetitive tasks.
Ability to bend, lift, and move up to 50 lbs.
Some travel is required.
Some early morning, evening, and weekend work may be required.

Additional requirements

The offer of employment is conditional upon providing a Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check completed within the last six months that is satisfactory to Marigold in accordance with Marigold’s Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Checks Policy. Obtaining and completing the Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check will be required prior to your start date.
The offer of employment is conditional upon successfully demonstrating possession of a valid class 5 Alberta driver’s license to Marigold’s Human Resources designate or your supervisor on your start date.
The offer of employment is conditional pending receipt and review of a three-year driver’s abstract dated within the last six months.
