Full job description

Maxville Manor is a not-for-profit, 114-bed long-term care home located in the welcoming village of Maxville, Ontario just 45 minutes east of Ottawa and 30 minutes north of Cornwall.

We are currently undertaking an exciting multi-phase redevelopment that will transform Maxville Manor into a modern 160-bed long-term care home, ensuring residents receive exceptional care in a state-of-the-art environment while expanding services to meet the growing needs of our community. This is a unique opportunity to join our leadership team during a period of significant growth, innovation, and organizational transformation.

Reporting to the Director of Care, the Assistant Director of Care (ADOC) provides clinical leadership, operational support, and administrative oversight to the Nursing Department. The ADOC plays a key role in promoting high-quality resident care, regulatory compliance, staff development, quality improvement, and continuous clinical excellence.

As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will contribute to strategic initiatives that support resident-centered care while helping shape the future of one of Eastern Ontario's leading long-term care homes.

Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Leadership & Resident Care

Provide day-to-day clinical leadership and support to nursing teams.
Collaborate with the Director of Care to ensure exceptional resident outcomes.
Support Unit Managers with complex clinical situations and resident care concerns.
Promote evidence-informed nursing practice and resident-centred care.
Provide leadership during outbreaks, emergencies, and critical incidents.
Assume responsibility for the Director of Care portfolio during absences.

Quality Improvement & Compliance

Ensure compliance with the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021, Ontario Regulation 246/22, Ministry directives, and applicable legislation.
Lead the implementation, review, and continuous improvement of nursing policies and procedures.
Monitor and evaluate mandatory clinical programs including:
Falls Prevention
Skin & Wound Care
Pain Management
Continence Care
Restraint Reduction
Infection Prevention & Control
Participate in accreditation, inspections, quality improvement initiatives, and Ministry compliance activities.
Assist with developing, implementing, and monitoring the home's Quality Improvement Plan (QIP).

Human Resources & Staff Development

Support recruitment, onboarding, and retention of nursing staff, particularly Personal Support Workers.
Assist with scheduling, staffing, coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
Deliver nursing orientation and ongoing clinical education.
Collaborate with the Director of Staff Development to enhance staff competencies.
Foster a positive, respectful, and collaborative workplace culture.

Resident Admissions & Operations

Coordinate and oversee resident admissions and transitions into the home.
Participate in interdisciplinary care conferences.
Maintain an active presence on resident home areas to support staff and residents.
Participate in special projects related to redevelopment, clinical innovation, and organizational improvement.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN).
Current Certificate of Registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
Minimum two (2) years of Registered Nursing experience in long-term care.
Minimum one (1) year of leadership, supervisory, or management experience in healthcare preferred.
Strong knowledge of:
Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021
Ontario Regulation 246/22
Occupational Health and Safety Act
Labour Relations Act
Ontario Human Rights Code
Experience with quality improvement initiatives and quality indicators.
Infection Prevention and Control certification (CIC, a-IPC or equivalent) is considered an asset.
Experience using PointClickCare.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Bilingualism (English/French) is considered an asset.
