Motor Winder / Electrical Motor Repair Technician

About Us

Spar Marine is a leader in Marine Electrical and Electrical Motor repair. We specialize in delivering reliable, high-quality solutions for our clients across shipping, industrial, or government sectors.

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Motor Winder to join our team. This role is critical to ensuring the repair, maintenance, and performance of electric motors for our customers.

Key Responsibilities

Disassemble, inspect, and diagnose faults in electric motors, generators, and related equipment.
Perform rewinding of AC and DC motors (stators, rotors, armatures, and field coils).
Repair, replace, and test motor windings, insulation, and connections.
Operate tools and equipment used for stripping, winding, dipping, and baking motor coils.
Balance rotors and perform electrical/mechanical tests on completed work.
Read and interpret wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical manuals.
Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts used, and testing results.
Adhere to company safety policies and industry standards at all times.

Qualifications & Desired Criteria

Previous experience as a Motor Winder / Electrical Technician (industrial or marine preferred).
Strong knowledge of AC/DC motors, generators, and control systems.
Ability to read and interpret schematics, manuals, and technical drawings.
Familiarity with insulation resistance testing, surge testing, and other diagnostic methods.
Mechanical aptitude for disassembly and assembly of motor components.
Attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and strong safety awareness.
Red Seal Electrician or equivalent certification (asset but not required).
Marine or heavy industrial experience (asset).
Physically capable of handling tools, lifting, and working in a workshop environment.
