We are seeking a Senior Structure Specialist Engineer to provide technical leadership in the development, design, analysis, certification, and approval of aircraft structural repairs and modifications. This role supports both primary and secondary aircraft structures and is responsible for delivering practical engineering solutions that maintain airworthiness, ensure regulatory compliance, and support in-service aircraft operations.
About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and approving structural repairs, modifications, and product developments while performing advanced static stress, fatigue, and damage tolerance analyses. Working within a multidisciplinary engineering environment, you will collaborate closely with design, stress, liaison, manufacturing, and airworthiness teams to develop engineering data packages, certification reports, repair substantiation, and compliance documentation.
A significant portion of the role involves supporting aircraft structural repairs and non-conformance activities, evaluating structural issues, developing repair solutions, and ensuring compliance with applicable certification and airworthiness requirements. You will work closely with certification authorities, approved delegates, and internal stakeholders to establish certification requirements and demonstrate regulatory compliance.
As a senior technical resource, you will review and approve engineering work, provide technical guidance to engineering teams, mentor junior and intermediate engineers, and contribute to the growth and development of engineering capabilities within the organization. The role also requires the application of project management principles, including supporting project scoping, schedule development, technical planning, and performance monitoring.
The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in aircraft structures and structural integrity, with advanced knowledge of static stress analysis, fatigue analysis, damage tolerance analysis (DTA), and finite element analysis (FEA). Experience supporting aircraft structural repairs, MRB activities, certification programs, airworthiness compliance, continuing airworthiness, and in-service engineering activities is highly valued.
Qualifications & Experience
- B.Sc., M.Sc., or Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Eligible for Transport Canada authorization nomination under AWM 505 and/or Department of National Defence (DND) Technical Airworthiness Authority (TAA) authorization.
- 15+ years of experience within an aerospace engineering environment.
- 10+ years of experience in aircraft structural analysis.
- Demonstrated experience supporting aircraft structural repairs, modifications, certification, or continuing airworthiness activities.
- Strong experience with static stress, fatigue, and damage tolerance analysis.
- Strong working knowledge of finite element analysis (FEA), including model development, validation, and verification.
- Previous leadership, mentorship, technical authority, or supervisory experience is considered an asset.
