Full job description

The Sales Representative is responsible for promoting and selling liner services, maintaining relationships with customers, and identifying new business opportunities to achieve sales targets. This role requires a deep understanding of ocean shipping (container and ro-ro, freight rate terms, pricing structure, and market conditions.

Main Responsibilities

Develop and maintain relationships with existing customers, including freight forwarders, shippers, and consignees.
Identify and pursue new business opportunities to increase market share and volume.
Promote the agency’s liner services and negotiate freight rates within the company’s pricing guidelines.
Provide accurate and timely quotations to customers and follow up on inquiries.
Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to provide insights for internal and principals’ commercial strategies.
Meet or exceed assigned sales targets and KPIs.
Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Collaborate with operations and documentation teams to ensure smooth cargo handling and timely communication with customers.
Visit customers regularly to strengthen relationships and understand their logistics requirements.
Maintain records of sales activities, customer interactions, and market intelligence.
Prepare sales reports, forecasts, and business development updates for management.
Ensure compliance with company policies, liner principal requirements, and industry regulations

Qualifications

3+ years sales experience in Liner shipping, freight pricing and trade routes.
Post-secondary diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or another relevant field.
Fluency in English (written and spoken); additional languages an asset.

Skills & Knowledge

Strong knowledge of liner shipping, freight pricing, and trade routes.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and CRM tools.
Willingness to travel for customer visits and industry events.

Working Conditions

Extended hours in a sitting position and working in front of a computer screen.
Frequent business travel is required.
