Software Engineer 3

Location: Markham, ON-Hybrid
Pay Rate: $64/hr - $77/hr
Contract Length: 12 Months

We at Raise are hiring a Software Engineer 3 for one of our top clients. After establishing themselves as an industry leader, they’re now expanding their team to meet rising demand. We’re hiring right now; if you’re interested, apply below for your chance to join a great place to work.

Responsibilities:

Lead the development and integration of cosimulation components to satisfy the end user test requirements.
Create virtual controller models to be used across different simulations
Create, maintain and test virtual controller components such as HWIO, RTOS, communication models, etc.
Obtain, develop & parameterize sub-system models, such as sensors and actuators, and ECU behavioral models
Work with development engineers to understand new feature requirements, address issues, and ensure proper implementation
Work with System Engineers to define SIMBOMs (the required cosimulation assets) based on the test requirements.
Integrate Plant models and other ECU models into a dynamic virtual simulation
Create and maintain detailed documents for each release
Provide support for released simulations and assist with user testing and troubleshooting
Provide technical support and guidance to other team members
Ensure the cosimulation environments are delivered with quality
Support cloud deployments

Required Qualifications:

6+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3 year of integration experience
3+ years of experience in virtualization
Proficient in Embedded C and Python
Competent with embedded controls software and the automated software build processes including gcc compiler, gdb debugger, Eclipse, Jenkins and ETAS INCA tools
Adept experience with MATLAB and Simulink in context of plant model development and integration and basic usage of additional simulation tools (e.g. GT-Power, AMESIM, CarSim)
Proficient in automotive communication technologies such as CAN, LIN, SPI and automotive ethernet.
Familiar with FMU/FMI standards and SSP.

Must-have skills:

Software in the Loop (SIL) Simulation Experience

Required Experience: 3+ years minimum, 5+ years preferred
The entire role is centered around creating and delivering SIL environments for hybrid, electrification, thermal management, and battery management systems. A candidate without SIL experience is unlikely to be successful regardless of their software background.

Embedded Software Development or Testing Experience (Must Have)

Required Experience: 5+ years minimum
The engineer will be integrating and simulating actual controller software. They must understand how embedded software operates, boots, communicates, and is validated.

Automotive Communication Protocols

Required Experience: 2–3+ years direct experience

Must Have: CAN, LIN, Automotive Ethernet

Nice to Have: SPI, FlexRay

Preferred Skills:

EV / Electrification Domain Knowledge

Battery Management Systems (BMS)
Thermal Management Systems
Hybrid Controls
Propulsion Controls
Target Experience: 2+ years

MATLAB / Simulink

Model development
Plant models
Model integration
Target Experience: 2+ years

Required Skills:

Ability to Move with Urgency towards deadlines.
