Take Your Career to New Heights with Flair Airlines
We’re here to make air travel affordable for everyone, and we’re looking for talented individuals who want to help us continue changing the industry for the better. As Canada’s most reliable airline, we're all about offering real value. As we continue to expand our network, increase flight frequencies, and introduce more services, we’re looking for passionate team members to help us in our mission to make air travel accessible for everyone. We know who we are, and we’re confident in our approach.
Your Team:
Join the Information Technology team at Flair as a Platform Engineer (DCS), a technically skilled professional who will support the configuration, integration, reliability, and ongoing development of Flair’s Departure Control System (DCS) and related airport passenger-processing platforms. Reporting to the Manager, IT Applications, you will work closely with Airport Operations, Network Control, the DCS vendor, airport authorities, and Digital/IT teams to configure and test system changes, manage integrations with airport and third-party systems, and troubleshoot technical issues that impact check-in, boarding, baggage operations, and other critical airport processes. Travel to airport locations will be required to support DCS deployments, integration testing, and go-lives.
This is a full-time, on-site position that can be based at any of our Edmonton (YEG), Calgary (YYC), Vancouver (YVR), or Toronto (YYZ) offices.
A Day in the Life:
As a Platform Engineer (DCS), you will:
-
Configure, maintain, and support Flair's Departure Control System (DCS), including check-in, boarding, load control, and baggage reconciliation functionality.
-
Build and maintain airport, station, and flight-specific configurations (e.g., check-in profiles, seat maps, boarding rules, baggage allowances) in coordination with Airport Operations.
-
Administer user and role-based access for DCS applications in line with security and least-privilege requirements.
-
Apply and validate DCS platform patches, releases, and vendor-issued updates in a controlled, tested manner.
-
Support and troubleshoot integrations between the DCS and airport common-use platforms (CUPPS/CUTE), self-service check-in kiosks, self-bag-drop, and boarding gate readers.
-
Coordinate with airport authorities and ground handling partners on system connectivity, terminal equipment configuration, and airport-side technical requirements.
-
Support integration with baggage handling systems (BHS) and baggage reconciliation systems (BRS), including bag tag printing and scan-event data flow.
-
Support integration with weight and balance systems to ensure accurate load control data is exchanged between the DCS and downstream systems.
-
Assist with the evaluation and rollout of biometric boarding, e-gate, and other passenger self-service technologies as they are introduced across the network.
-
Develop, support, and troubleshoot IATA-standard passenger and baggage messaging (e.g., Type B/Teletype messaging, EDIFACT, PADIS) between the DCS and airport, interline, and industry systems.
-
Build and maintain APIs and integration points between the DCS and other Flair systems, including the reservation system, airport operational systems, and reporting/data platforms.
-
Monitor message flow and data integrity between systems, investigating and resolving message failures, rejects, and data mismatches.
-
Maintain integration documentation, including message specifications, mapping documents, and system interface diagrams.
-
Monitor DCS platform health, performance, and availability, proactively identifying and addressing issues before they affect operations.
-
Act as the technical escalation point for DCS-related incidents affecting check-in, boarding, baggage, or load control at any station, coordinating with the DCS vendor, Airport Operations, and Network Control to restore service.
-
Participate in major incident response and post-incident review for DCS-related outages or degraded service.
-
Support disaster recovery and business continuity planning for DCS and related airport systems.
-
Design and execute test plans for DCS configuration changes, integrations, and vendor releases, including regression and User Acceptance Testing (UAT), prior to production deployment.
-
Manage the technical relationship with the DCS vendor, including issue escalation, release coordination, and participation in vendor roadmap discussions.
-
Participate in change management processes for all DCS-related changes, ensuring appropriate testing, approvals, and rollback plans are in place.
-
Prepare and maintain runbooks, configuration standards, and technical documentation for the DCS platform and its integrations.
-
Provide technical training and support to Airport Operations and Service Desk teams on DCS functionality and known issues.
-
Perform additional duties as required to support business objectives.
