Job Title: Family Wellness Advocate/Support Worker

Department: Tupa’s Lodge

Reports To: Tupas Lodge Manager

Hours: Varies by position

Wage: $25.00

About the Opportunity

Tupa's Lodge is an Indigenous Mothers' Second-Stage Parenting and Life Skills Program that supports Indigenous mothers and their children in building stability, strengthening parenting and life skills, and preparing for independent living within a culturally supportive environment.

We are seeking compassionate, reliable, and professional Family Wellness Advocates / Support Workers to support Indigenous mothers and their children in a safe, respectful, and supportive home environment. The successful candidate will build positive relationships with participants, provide support and guidance, assist with daily operations and documentation, and contribute to a collaborative team. The ideal candidate is able to balance empathy with clear boundaries, work independently, and support participants in achieving their goals.

Available Positions

Weekday Evening Support Worker (Permanent)

· Monday to Thursday

· 4:00 PM – 12:00 AM

Weekend Day Support Worker (Permanent)

· Saturday, Sunday, and Monday

· 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Weekend Evening Support Worker (Temporary – Maternity Leave Coverage, approximately 12 months)

· Friday, Saturday, and Sunday

· 4:00 PM – 12:00 AM

Key Responsibilities

Support participants in developing and working toward individualized wellness, parenting, and life skills goals

Build respectful, supportive relationships with mothers and children while providing encouragement, guidance, and accountability

Complete case notes, communication logs, incident reports, and other required documentation in a timely and professional manner

Support daily household routines, meal preparation, grocery shopping, and the overall operation of Tupas Lodge

Perform general housekeeping, including cleaning participant and staff areas, bathrooms, floors, laundry, and managing garbage and recycling to maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment.

Conduct wellness and safety checks and respond to crises, conflicts, and emergencies using trauma-informed approaches

Transport participants and children to appointments, activities, and community services, and assist with errands and supply pickups as needed

Support participant engagement in cultural, recreational, and community programming

Work collaboratively with the Tupa’s Lodge Manager, Staff Supervisor and team members to provide coordinated participant support

Participate in staff meetings, training opportunities, and program activities while maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality

Qualifications & Requirements

· Minimum Grade 12 education; post-secondary education in Human Services or a related field is considered an asset

· Ability to safely lift and carry 25–30 lbs or more and perform the physical duties associated with housekeeping, cleaning, and supporting the daily operation of the Tupas Lodge.

· Experience working with women, families, youth, or vulnerable populations

· Knowledge of trauma-informed practice, mental health, addictions, and harm reduction

· Experience working with Indigenous families and communities is considered an asset

· Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills

· Knowledge of sanitation protocols

Satisfactory completion of Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector).
Full valid Class 5 driver’s licence, reliable vehicle, and satisfactory driver’s abstract.

Certifications

· First Aid / CPR (asset)

· Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) (asset)

· Mental Health First Aid (asset)

· Food Safe Certification (asset)
