Full job description

Human Resources Generalist for leading charitable organization client, Toronto head office.

Marberg Job Number: 2872
Job Type: Temporary.
Existing Vacancy: Yes.
Initial Term: ASAP for approximately 2 to 3 months, with possibility of additional extension or direct hire.
Target Compensation: From $33 to $38 per hour, according to experience, with additional bilingual premium.
Regular Work Hours: 7.0 hours per day not including 1 hour unpaid lunch break, to be worked during regular business hours, Monday to Friday (35 work hours per week)
Work Location: Hybrid combination of 3 days remote-based and 2 day onsite at client's mid town Toronto office. Onsite work requirements may change according to client business requirements.
Position Reports To: HR Director.

Responsibilities Summary:
Support and enhance all core areas of human resources, including recruitment, onboarding, employee engagement, learning and development, payroll and benefits administration, performance management, occupational health and safety, HR compliance, and organizational development. Partner with HR team and organization leaders to provide trusted HR guidance and deliver people-focused solutions that support business objectives

Support full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, employee development, performance management, engagement, and offboarding.
Lead full-cycle recruitment by partnering with hiring managers, preparing job postings, screening candidates, coordinating interviews, conducting reference checks, and preparing employment offers.
Coordinate and continuously improve onboarding and orientation programs to ensure new employees have the tools, resources, and support needed for success, while managing offboarding processes, including exit interviews and feedback analysis.
Support employee engagement, recognition, and organizational development initiatives by administering surveys, analyzing results, assisting with performance review programs, and contributing to learning and development initiatives.
Administer payroll, benefits, and time management systems, ensuring accurate employee records, timely payroll processing, benefits administration, reporting, and employee support.
Maintain HR systems, policies, procedures, and documentation while ensuring compliance with employment standards, occupational health and safety legislation, and organizational policies.
Serve as a trusted HR resource by providing guidance to managers and employees on HR policies, procedures, employee relations, and best practices.
Support compensation and job evaluation processes through market research, position evaluation, and reporting.
Participate in Occupational Health & Safety and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion initiatives, contributing to a safe, inclusive, and respectful workplace.
Prepare HR reports, maintain employee data, identify opportunities for process improvement, and contribute to projects that enhance overall employee experience and organizational effectiveness.
Additional HR Generalist responsibilities as required.

Qualifications:
Education: Post Secondary Degree or Diploma with a focus on human resources management or a closely related discipline.
Professional Credentials: CHRP accredited or in progress.
Preferred Work Experience: At least 3–5 years of progressive Human Resources Generalist experience.
Preferred Sector Experience: Public or Not for Profit Sector experience an asset.

Technical and Language Skills Requirements:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office such as Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint (will be tested)
Demonstrated proficiency in ADP for payroll and HR (will be tested and/or confirmed via references).
General proficiency and familiarity with HRIS, payroll, and time management systems.
Advanced English written and verbal proficiency.
Fluency in French an asset (candidates represented as bilingual will complete a French fluency evaluation).

Task -Based Qualifications and Additional Attributes:

Experience supporting multiple HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, payroll, benefits administration, and HR operations.
Demonstrated knowledge of Canadian employment standards and occupational health and safety legislation.
Demonstrated record of professional conduct and character. Responsible, reliable and works to deadlines.
Focused and able to work effectively with minimal direction and supervision, to prioritize tasks effectively, and to manage volume targets and due dates.
Proficient de-escalation skills. Excellent listening skills, and the ability to provide and receive effective feedback.
Proven ability to respond to sensitive and confidential matters with tact, discretion, and excellent judgement in the interpretation and application of instructions and organization policy.
Demonstrated ability to work well both independently and collaboratively, and in an advisory capacity, and liaise effectively with a wide and diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
Demonstrated successful experience of prioritizing work, making decisions and communicating with others within a values framework of respect, equity, anti-racism, diversity and inclusivity.

Additional Requirements:

Must be legally entitled to work in Canada, providing satisfactory documentation upon request.
Ability to work both remotely and onsite, abiding by organization health and safety policies.
Ability to promptly provide qualified employment references upon request who are available to speak with either Marberg or Marberg's client.
Provision of certification of AODA and OHSA online training course completion prior to assignment start.
Additional satisfactory Background Checks, Technical and Interpersonal Skills Evaluations, and Employment References as required.
