POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking an experienced, innovative and solution-driven Web Developer & Digital Systems Specialist to manage and develop the digital infrastructure of Bethel Publishing House and Sisterhood Talkshow.
The successful candidate will be responsible for website development, digital systems management, e-commerce solutions, hosting management, website improvements, security, integrations and digital innovation across the organisation.
This role requires someone who understands web development, e-commerce, publishing, media, digital platforms and online business systems.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIESWebsite Development & Management
- Design, develop and maintain:
- Bethel Publishing House website.
- Sisterhood Talkshow website.
- Founder & Group CEO personal website.
- Author profile pages.
- Client publishing project websites.
- Event and campaign landing pages.
- Book sales pages.
- Create professional, responsive and user-friendly websites.
- Improve website functionality, design and customer experience.
- Ensure websites are mobile-friendly, secure and scalable.
Website Audit, Improvement & Digital Innovation
- Conduct regular reviews of existing websites.
- Identify technical issues, outdated content, missing features and improvement opportunities.
- Recommend and implement new ideas to improve:
- Website performance.
- Customer experience.
- Book sales.
- Author engagement.
- Client enquiries.
- Digital storytelling.
- Introduce innovative website features, plugins and digital solutions that support organisational growth.
- Improve website speed, navigation, structure and overall professionalism.
Hosting, Domains & Digital Infrastructure
- Review current hosting environments and digital systems.
- Coordinate migration of existing websites from current hosting providers to approved company-controlled hosting where required.
- Transfer and configure:
- Website files.
- Databases.
- Domains.
- SSL certificates.
- Hosting settings.
- Digital assets.
- Ensure company websites and digital assets remain secure and properly managed.
E-Commerce & Online Systems
- Develop and maintain e-commerce functionality.
- Support online book sales systems.
- Create and improve:
- Product pages.
- Book sales pages.
- Payment integrations.
- Shopping systems.
- Customer journeys.
- Install, configure and maintain plugins and integrations.
- Work with the Digital Marketing, E-Commerce & Social Media Manager to improve online sales performance.
Publishing & Client Digital Support
Support digital projects including:
- Book websites.
- Author pages.
- Publishing packages.
- Client websites.
- Online resources.
- Digital campaigns.
- Promotional platforms.
Ensure digital products are professionally presented and aligned with Bethel’s standards.
Global Branch Digital Development
Support the digital expansion of:
- Bethel Publishing House Canada (Global Headquarters).
- Bethel Publishing House USA.
- Bethel Publishing House South Africa.
- Future international branches.
Responsibilities include:
- Creating branch websites.
- Developing branch pages.
- Maintaining global brand consistency.
- Creating scalable systems for international growth.
Digital Security & Access Management
Responsible for managing digital access control including:
- Websites.
- Hosting accounts.
- Domains.
- Social media platforms.
- E-commerce systems.
- Digital tools and plugins.
Responsibilities include:
- Granting access according to approved procedures.
- Revoking access when staff or contractors leave.
- Maintaining access records.
- Supporting cybersecurity practices.
- Ensuring company digital assets remain protected.
Team Collaboration
Work closely with:
- Founder & Group CEO.
- Operations Manager.
- Digital Marketing, E-Commerce & Social Media Manager.
- Creative Designer & Brand Specialist.
- Publishing & Editorial Manager.
- Publishing Project Coordinator.
- Executive Producer.
- Business Development Manager.
FIRST THREE-MONTH PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES
During the three-month trial period, the successful candidate will be expected to:
- Review and improve existing Bethel digital platforms.
- Complete required website updates and improvements.
- Support transfer of hosting and digital infrastructure where required.
- Improve e-commerce functionality.
- Develop website solutions for books, authors, clients and events.
- Create or support branch websites.
- Establish professional access control systems.
- Recommend new digital ideas to improve growth and efficiency.
Successful completion of the trial period may result in extension to a twelve-month employment agreement.
REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must have:
- Qualification or demonstrated experience in Web Development, Software Development, Information Technology or related fields.
- Minimum three (3) years’ experience in web development, e-commerce, digital systems or related roles.
- Strong experience with website development platforms and technologies.
- Experience managing hosting, domains, plugins and integrations.
- Experience working with publishing, media, e-commerce or creative industries will be an advantage.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple digital projects.
PORTFOLIO REQUIREMENT
