Full job description

An established Architectural, Interior Design, and Construction Project Management firm is seeking an experienced Senior Controller to oversee financial operations and support business growth and operational efficiency.

This position is ideal for a mature, hands-on professional who thrives in a small firm environment and is comfortable managing both strategic financial oversight and daily accounting operations.

Key Responsibilities

· Oversee all financial operations of the company

· Perform daily accounting functions including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, banking and bookkeeping

· Prepare and post necessary journal entries pertaining to Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll and taxes.

· Prepare and analyze monthly and annual financial reports

· Perform month-end and year-end closing processes in accordance with company requirements

· Ensure the accuracy of the general ledgers, sub-ledgers, and consolidation/reporting tools

· Prepare and release monthly and or as required project statements based on project progress and interact directly with end clients

· Manage cash flow, budgeting, and financial analysis

· Follow and monitor established internal processes and controls

· Handle HST filings and regulatory compliance

· Assist with human resources and office management as required

· Prepare month-end reporting schedules for Directors and Management Team

· Report directly to the Directors and Management Team

Qualifications

· CPA designation or equivalent professional accounting qualification is considered an asset

· 5 to 10 years of experience in a relevant senior accounting or controller position

· In depth knowledge of advanced accounting concepts, financial statement presentation and supporting documentation in accordance with GAAP, in addition to A/R, A/P and General Ledger

· Advanced proficiency in Excel, QuickBooks and Microsoft Word

· Experience with FileMaker Pro or similar database programs

· Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills

· Ability to multitask with accuracy and meticulous attention to detail

· Ability to identify issues, research their cause(s) and to propose solutions

· High level of initiative, professionalism, and responsibility
