General Trades Subforeperson - Burrard Station

Number of positions: 1 Job Location: Burrard SC Station

Employment type: Permanent Region: Lower Mainland

Hours of work: Full-time (37.5 hrs/wk) Flexible Work Role: Field

Hourly Rate: $ 51.22

What you'll do

An employee qualified to perform the duties of a journeyperson in trades other than the electrical trades defined herein
General Tradesperson shall perform work such as carpentry, painting, brickwork, track bonding, rigging, automotive,

lagging, exploratory diamond drilling, etc. and all types of work where skilled Tradesperson are required other than those
types of work which are normally performed by Journeyperson electrical workers, but may include special welding to
electrical equipment in energized stations provided such work is supervised by a qualified electrical Journeyperson

Employees in these categories will be required to perform work of many kinds but the amount of work of any kind available

is so limited that it would be impracticable to limit one employee to any one class of work

The definitions of the classifications are accordingly indicative only of the qualifications and duties of the employees

concerned

In addition to the above, General Tradesperson may be required to install duct. Where this work is performed in stations

an electrical Journeyperson shall be present during installation and they may be called on to take charge of the crew

A General Tradesperson may be assisted by a Driver/Helper
It shall be the duty of a Sub-Foreperson to supervise the work of the individuals under their charge in such a manner that

work may be carried on safely, efficiently and expeditiously. The duties and responsibilities of a Sub-Foreperson include
such activities as:

instructing and directing workers in the performance of their duties,
planning and coordinating work for others (including contractors),
supervising and assigning work to employees,
responsible for the preparation and quality control of all work under their charge,
assuring that all work related documentation, information and records are updated,
liaising with appropriate internal and external parties as required, and
providing feedback to crew members on their performance in order that work is carried out safely, efficiently, and

expeditiously.

What you bring

As per IBEW Collective Agreement.
Valid B.C. Class 5 driver's license
Demonstrated leadership skills
Demonstrated safety leadership – candidates who have had a reckless or repeated at-risk (as identified under Just

Culture) Life Saving Rule violation within the last 24 months will be excluded from the competition

BC Trade qualification or Interprovincial Red Seal Endorsement
Advanced computer skills - including but not limited to Outlook, Word, Excel and proficient typing skills
Please submit a copy of your TQ with your application
It would be preferred that the successful candidates have a high level of proficiency in at least two building trades and a

basic understanding of other trades associated with building maintenance

Strong commitment to safety, WorkSafeBC requirements and safe working practices
Familiarity with Provincial building code, WorkSafeBC and other applicable codes related to building operation and

maintenance.

This position is affiliated with the international Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union (IBEW local 258) www.ibew258.bc.
ca

A requirement for this position is that you maintain your Class 5 Driver's License in good standing.
References will form part of the merit score.

Impacted SFO employees will be managed through Article 2 of IBEW Collective Agreement.

The successful candidates HQ will be at Burrard Synchronous Condense Station near Port Moody. Some travel may be

required to support other headquarters in the Lower Mainland as required.
