HELP BUILD THE FOUNDATION OF A GROWING FREIGHT COMPANY!

North Span Freight Ltd. is a new transportation and logistics company serving Prince Rupert and Northwest British Columbia. We are focused on providing reliable freight solutions, exceptional customer service, and safe operations. As one of our first team members, you will play a key role in helping establish the standards, practices, and culture that will support our long-term success.

We are seeking an experienced Lead Hand Driver / Dock Operations professional to provide day-to-day operational leadership while remaining actively involved in freight handling, trailer loading, unloading, and local pickup and delivery activities. This is a working leadership role for someone who leads by example and enjoys being part of the operation rather than supervising from an office.

What you’ll do:

Operations Leadership

Assist in coordinating daily dock and freight operations
Support scheduling and workflow planning to ensure efficient freight movement
Provide guidance, training, and support to team members
Promote safe work practices and operational excellence
Assist management in identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and service quality
Help maintain a positive, professional, and accountable workplace culture

Driver and Dock Responsibilities

Safely operate company vehicles for local pickup and delivery routes
Load, unload, and secure freight for transport
Strip inbound trailers and containers
Build and load outbound trailers for linehaul and local distribution
Verify freight counts, shipment documentation, and freight condition
Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and material-handling equipment
Conduct daily equipment and vehicle inspections
Ensure freight is handled safely and efficiently while minimizing damage
Assist with general warehouse and dock activities as required

What we’re looking for:

Valid BC Class 5 Driver's License with a clean driver's abstract
Minimum 3 years of transportation, freight, warehouse, dock, or logistics experience
Previous experience leading crews, coordinating operations, or acting as a lead hand is an asset
Forklift experience and strong freight-handling skills
Ability to work safely in a physically demanding environment
Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Dependable, accountable, and committed to high standards of service
Ability to remain productive and effective in a fast-moving operational environment

Available Shifts – Tuesday to Saturday

5:00 AM – 1:30 PM
7:30 AM – 4:00 PM

What we offer:

Competitive hourly wage of $28.00 - $32.00 based on experience
Additional premium for Lead Hand duties
