Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dependable Baker to support daily production and contribute to a well-rounded kitchen operation. This role goes beyond baking, covering pastries, scones, cookies, and quick breads, along with soups, sandwiches, spreads, syrups, and marinated items.

The ideal candidate is hands-on, organized, and comfortable in a fast-paced commercial kitchen, with a strong focus on consistency, quality, and teamwork. This position is suited for someone who can manage production tasks efficiently while contributing to a clean, structured, and collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

Execute daily production of baked goods including cakes, bread, pastries, scones, cookies, and seasonal items
Prepare and support kitchen items beyond baking, including soups, sandwiches, spreads, syrups, and marinated proteins
Follow production schedules and coordinate with the team to ensure all items are ready for service
Maintain consistent quality, presentation, and product standards
Assist in recipe development, testing, and standardization of new and seasonal items
Support inventory management, including monitoring stock, ordering, and cost control
Ensure food safety compliance and maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen, including equipment care
Coordinate with front-of-house for daily needs, displays, and special orders
Support catering orders and event preparation
Assist with prep planning, reporting, and general administrative tasks as needed
Operate bakery equipment safely and efficiently (ovens, mixers, decorating tools)
Assist with general food preparation, assembly, packaging, and service support
Step into customer-facing roles when needed, providing clear product knowledge and support

Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of baking experience (required)
Culinary or Baking Certificate/Diploma (required)
Strong knowledge of baking techniques, ingredients, and food preparation beyond baking
Creative and innovative approach to recipe development and seasonal offerings
Proven experience in commercial or high-volume baking operations
Food Safe Level 1 Certification
Excellent organizational and time management abilities
Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
Passionate about food quality, creativity, and presentation
Willingness to support multiple areas of kitchen and café operations
Willingness to cross-train and assist in other café operations when needed
