Full job description

Accounting and Payroll Coordinator

Central Residential Services is a non-profit organization which provides residential and staffing supports for adults with complex care needs. We are committed to the advancement of a community in which all people are accepted as full citizens and attain their full personal potential. We are seeking an Accounts and Payroll Coordinator to join our growing organization.

Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Accounting and Payroll Coordinator is responsible for performing accounting and payroll functions to ensure accurate financial records and timely employee compensation. This role performs payroll administration, bank reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable activities, and assists with financial reporting.

Accounting and Financial Administration

Assist with Annual budget preparation and allocations
Perform bank statement reviews and monthly bank reconciliations.
Investigate and resolve discrepancies between financial records and banking transactions.
Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.
Prepare financial reports, reconciliations, and account analyses.
Monitor cash flow and account balances.

Payroll Administration

Prepare and process bi-weekly payroll accurately and on time.
Prepare and adjust biweekly, Christmas and Summer schedules.
Accurately calculate and produce reports for payroll, including but not limited to accruals and leaves.
Calculate wages, overtime and deductions.
Maintain employee payroll records and ensure data accuracy.
Prepare and process Records of Employment (ROEs), tax forms, and year-end reporting.
Respond to employee payroll inquiries in a timely and professional manner.

Compliance and Reporting

Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.
Maintain confidentiality of employee and financial information.
Assist with internal and external audits by providing required documentation.
Support budgeting and financial planning activities as required.

Qualifications

Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
Payroll certification (such as PCP designation) is considered an asset.
Minimum 2–3 years of experience in payroll and accounting functions.
Experience with payroll and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, ADP, Dayforce).
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.

Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
Knowledge of payroll legislation and accounting principles.
Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

This position will be paid on the management pay scale (salary under review)

37.5 hr work week

Pay: From $1.00 per year
