Join Our Growing Team!

Kays Fresh Market is a locally owned independent grocery store in Charlottetown, specializing in fresh meat, produce, and quality grocery products. We pride ourselves on providing exceptional customer service, offering high-quality products, and supporting our local community.

As our business continues to grow, we are looking for a Junior Accountant to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent accounting graduate or someone in the early stages of their accounting career to gain valuable hands-on experience in a fast-paced retail environment.

What You'll Do

Reporting to the Controller, you will assist with a variety of accounting and administrative functions, including:

Processing accounts payable and accounts receivable
Reconciling bank, credit card, and general ledger accounts
Assisting with monthly financial reporting and account reconciliations
Preparing journal entries and maintaining accurate financial records
Assisting with payroll processing and employee expense reporting
Supporting inventory and cost accounting processes
Helping prepare information for year-end financial statements and audits
Maintaining organized accounting files and documentation
Assisting with other accounting and office administration duties as required

What We're Looking For

Diploma or degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field
CPA preparatory courses or CPA student status is considered an asset
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team
Positive attitude and willingness to learn

Experience with accounting software and retail inventory systems is considered an asset but is not required.
