Hopscotch is looking for ECEs striving to provide outstanding care, within a great team, from our high quality centre.

13 additional paid days off: In addition to the nine (9) standard stat days, Hopscotch observes as paid days the optional ones (Easter Monday, Heritage Day, and Boxing Day, National Day for Truth and Reconciliation Day)
That’s approx. 27 days paid off (plus two more paid PD & wellness days would make 29…), compared to only 19 if only standard vacation and stat days are paid.

Early learning excellence

Hopscotch incorporates practical and simple practices from FLIGHT, Alberta's Early Learning and Care Framework and welcomes and supports those with practicums. For those unfamiliar with FLIGHT, we will train and help merge these practices with excellent things you are already doing.

We are looking for someone who:

Has a passion for early learning and child care
Enjoys having fun and learning with children
Demonstrates professional ethics at all times
Works well with others in a team and at a quick pace
Willing and eager to learn and grow through professional development
Is able to build relationships with families (i.e. parents of the children)
Reliable, organized, and takes initiative

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

Provide outstanding care for the children under your supervision, ensuring their needs are met (social, physical, intellectual, creative and emotional)
Help the children in your care feel safe, comfortable, and nurtured
Follow all health policies and practices, related to COVID-19 and otherwise
Participate in planning and updating the curriculum (drawing on your observations, expertise, and knowledge)
Plan activities based on sound practice so that children are learning through having fun
Serve meals and assist children with eating
Engage with families to exchange the latest information on their child during pick up / drop off and via daycare software
Listen to parent concerns and address them or engage the Director to assist
Report to the Director issues relating to children, parents, staff, or the program
Ensure the environment is safe, secure, and well maintained by ensuring proper use of equipment and reporting any required maintenance
Keep child care rooms organized and clean, and sanitize surfaces and toys as required
Further develop and build your professional skills and abilities
Participate in evaluating and improving centre programming
Adhere to the policies and procedures in the Employee Handbook

Qualifications/Skill/Requirements:

ECE certification in Alberta (Level 1, 2, or 3) - or willing to obtain
Satisfactory (i.e. clear) Criminal Record Check including a vulnerable sector search (less than 6 months since date of check)
Ability to lift at least 40 pounds, as required
Up-to-date immunizations as per AHS (subject to human rights considerations)
