Full job description

Chinova Bioworks is seeking applications from qualified candidates for a Research Technician - Product Development & Innovation. This position reports to the VP of R&D.

Chinova Bioworks is one of the world’s most innovative food technology companies that specializes in natural white button mushroom derived extracts. We make new functional ingredients for the food and beverage industry that help our clients meet major consumer trends for clean label and healthy shelf life extension. We are looking to expand our portfolio to other applications and need a strong team member who can help us with this endeavor. Chinova Bioworks offers highly competitive salaries and benefits. This position is for our office and lab in Fredericton, NB.

Position Summary:

Prepare chemical solutions, biological media, food and beverage prototypes, and experimental formulations in support of research and development activities.
Conduct microbiological research involving the cultivation, handling, and analysis of bacterial, yeast, and mold species.
Perform laboratory testing and analytical procedures, collect and analyze experimental data, and prepare technical reports and summaries.
Independently manage assigned research projects, including planning, execution, documentation, and reporting of results.
Operate, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory equipment and instrumentation to ensure reliable performance and accurate results.
Prepare, package, document, and coordinate the shipment of client and research samples while maintaining accurate tracking and inventory records.
Maintain laboratory operations through equipment maintenance, sterilization, inventory management, workspace organization, and compliance with laboratory safety and quality standards.
Collaborate with cross functional teams to support research initiatives, solve technical challenges, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.

Technical Skills and Knowledge:

Accurate pipetting, measuring, and weighing techniques
Basic laboratory techniques and procedures
Knowledge of chemistry, microbiology, and food science principles
Understanding of aseptic techniques and contamination control
Ability to interpret and follow technical protocols and SOPs
Basic analytical and problem-solving skills for laboratory testing
Ability to accurately record, organize, and interpret data
Familiarity with laboratory equipment and instrumentation
Knowledge of laboratory safety practices and quality standards
Understanding of sample handling, labeling, and shipping requirements
Basic computer skills for data entry, documentation, and reporting

Education / Experience:

Bachelor’s in Chemistry, Biology or a related field
Experience in a lab environment
