The Bertossi Group is seeking an Experienced Executive Chef to lead the culinary program of a high volume, fine dining restaurant

The Bertossi Group has set the standard for fine dining in Halifax for over 30 years, with 6 destination restaurants: Water Polo, The Bicycle Thief, Ristorante a Mano, il Mercato Trattoria, Via Condotti & Matadora Tapas Bar as well as two luxury Cafes: Pane e Circo.

Job Description

We are looking for someone who has experience leading the Culinary program for a high volume, fine dining restaurant. If you can picture yourself working with a restaurant named one of Canada’s Top 100, have a passion for working with fresh, quality ingredients and an interest in Italian cuisine, we definitely want to hear from you!

The Executive Chef is responsible for leading, motivating and engaging the team by executing the highest standard of culinary excellence. The Executive Chef is also accountable for ensuring the highest quality standards for culinary production, cleanliness, labour control and food hygiene. You’ll bring professional, enthusiastic ownership to the menu each day; and contribute to the incredible success of one of Atlantic Canada's leading restaurants!

The Day to Day:

Inspire excellence for all team members, while ensuring The Bertossi Group’s dedication to incredible hospitality & spectacular cuisine is met at all levels
Actively monitors culinary operations, cleanliness & food hygiene standards
Manages day-to-day financial operations of the venue including ordering, food & labour costs and inventory management
Develops innovative menu offerings, including features, for our exciting new culinary concept
Assists in talent identification, recruitment, training & development initiatives as well as staff management & coaching
Ensures proper health and safety procedures are followed by all team members
