MARINE CAD DESIGNER / DRAFTER – SOLIDWORKS & ESTIMATING
Shoreline Pile Driving & Wharf Construction Ltd.
Kelowna, BC | Full-Time | Immediate Start
HELP US BUILD SOME OF THE OKANAGAN’S MOST UNIQUE WATERFRONT PROJECTS
Shoreline Pile Driving is seeking an experienced CAD Designer or Drafter to prepare 2D drawings, 3D models, shop drawings and fabrication details for marine construction projects.
The ideal candidate will have strong SolidWorks and CAD skills and experience related to marine construction, structural steel, aluminum fabrication, docks, marinas, bridges or other civil infrastructure.
This is not a desk-only drafting position. You’ll work directly with Shoreline’s project managers, estimators, field crews, fabricators and consulting engineers to turn engineering concepts into practical, buildable solutions. You’ll also assist with quantity takeoffs, supplier pricing and project estimates.
With several significant marine construction projects ahead, this is an opportunity to take on an important role within Shoreline and help deliver some of the Okanagan’s most unique waterfront infrastructure.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Drafting and Design
- Prepare preliminary concepts, layouts and technical drawings for engineer review.
- Develop and revise 2D drawings and 3D models using SolidWorks and CAD.
- Prepare shop drawings, fabrication drawings, assemblies and construction details.
- Produce bills of materials and material lists from drawings and models.
- Prepare drawing markups and incorporate design revisions.
- Review drawings for constructability, missing information and potential conflicts.
- Help develop practical design solutions that reflect Shoreline’s construction and fabrication methods.
- Maintain organized drawing registers, revision records and project files.
Engineering Coordination
- Act as a key liaison between Shoreline and our consulting engineers.
- Coordinate technical information between project managers, engineers, suppliers, subcontractors, fabricators and field crews.
- Prepare and track RFIs, design questions, drawing revisions and technical submissions.
- Help coordinate engineer-reviewed shop drawings and drawing packages.
- Participate in design and project coordination meetings.
- Follow up on outstanding design items and help keep projects moving.
- Ensure drawings reflect current site conditions, project requirements and approved design changes.
Estimating and Preconstruction
- Complete quantity takeoffs and material calculations from drawings and models.
- Request and organize pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Assist with project estimates, budgets, change orders and pricing breakdowns.
- Compare drawings and specifications to identify scope changes, omissions and cost impacts.
- Help prepare scopes of work and review supplier and subcontractor quotations.
- Support value-engineering and cost-saving reviews.
- Ensure estimates align with design requirements, fabrication needs and the intended construction approach.
