Job Title: Part-Time Banquet Captain
Location: Clarion Hotel & Conference Centre – Abbotsford, BC

About Us:

Position Overview:
We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented, and service-driven Part-Time Banquet Captain to join our Banquets team. Reporting to the Banquet Manager, the Banquet Captain plays a leadership role in overseeing banquet events, ensuring smooth operations, and delivering outstanding guest service. This is a hands-on supervisory position, ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, event-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead banquet setup and tear-down according to Banquet Event Orders (BEOs).
Conduct pre-event briefings with banquet staff, communicating menus, timelines, and service expectations.
Greet clients, confirm event details, review A/V needs, and remain available throughout events.
Assign and supervise staff to ensure timely and efficient service.
Manage change orders, update BEOs, and maintain detailed event logs.
Oversee bar cash-outs, liquor inventory counts, and deposits.
Ensure adherence to all banquet SOPs, policies, and service standards.
Handle guest concerns and escalate incidents or staff challenges to the Banquet Manager.
Maintain accurate billing records and complete necessary reports at the end of shifts.
Support Lost & Found procedures and other administrative tasks as required.

Qualifications:

Previous banquet or hospitality supervisory experience preferred.
Strong leadership, organization, and time-management skills.
Excellent communication and guest service abilities.
Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Must be available to work late evenings, sometimes as late as 2:00 a.m.
Serving It Right certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire).

Additional Details:

Busy season begins in October, with the potential for full-time hours during peak periods.
